Need sleep? Find somewhere else.
Our room was on the second floor looking down on the street. There was a rave club across the street that played VERY loud music until 4 or 5 in the morning. It was impossible to get any sleep because of the noise. The staff’s reply: “you know you’re staying in a busy urban area”, as if that was a reason for not being able to sleep in a hotel.
The first thing the following morning we requested a new room, and per our conversation with desk staff, we repacked our bags so they could move them in the event they changed our room. The staff “made a note” in our file that we were seeking a room change.
When we returned that evening, nothing had been done to get us a new room. The desk agent looked for alternatives, but very clearly told us that a move would not be made to an “upgraded” room, instead offering us a downgrade to a room with 2 twin beds. He had a serious case of indifference…take it or leave it. We elected to make the move because the new room was far enough away from the street to be much quieter.
The facility itself was nice. Our schedule did not allow for us to use any amenities other than the rooms (although we did purchase some coffee and snacks from the food area).
Because of the unacceptable noise levels, and the indifference of the staff, I would advise others to find an alternative place to stay while in Reykjavik.
