Check in went well, they took our luggage to our room, we get there and there were no towels, luckily the gentleman that brought our luggage up was still there. He said he would bring us towels and never came back. The TV didn't work. (ROOM WAS NOT EVEN CLOSE ON HOW IT LOOKED ON LINE) we were issued one key only, and you had to put the key in the slot in order for the lights to come on. Next morning my wife wanted hot water for her coffee, and they said they didn't have any hot water. I reserved the room for two nights ended up staying one night only didn't even ask for reimbursement, I ended up getting another room somewhere else, my kids stayed at the other place while we went back to check out ang grab our luggage. When I went to check out, they wanted the bracelets back that my kids had, or they were going to charge me for them. I had to give them a written explanation on why I couldn't return those bracelets. (Bottom line Terrible experience)

The Tropicana Hotel is my new favorite spot in Puerto Vallarta. It’s in a great location on the beach in the Zona Romantica.

No dresser for clothes….do not have brewed decaf coffee, margarine instead of butter…they maintain the grounds but not the rooms; they repair but do not finish the job….they only supply bottled water for the first day… Staff is very cordial but most of the time they stand around waiting for directions.. There are better options for the price paid.. Owners just cater to Mexicanos who will accept whatever is given them…Gringos expect more than just a room and better food for the price paid…

This is final time to stay at this hotel. There was an overall feeling of feeling unwelcome and the staff lacked the genuine hospitality. Everything feel like a bother to the staff, whether that was asking for extra towels, coffee at the restaurant or overall value for the money. The bathroom shower curtin was to short a the water leaked out the side making things wet. There are better stars and rating rather than the Tropicana. I’ll stay somewhere else next time.

A good place to stay on the beach
My usual go to place to stay while vacationing. It is an older hotel past its glory days compared to most timeshare resorts. (This one is not part of any timeshare company.) That is what gives it its charm. It is located in the romantic zone close to a lot of shopping and popular restaurants and bars, all within walking distance. The staff are friendly and helpful always.

The staff were generally very good except for those at check-in. One woman was particularly rude. The hotel kept very clean. The single chair in my room was so uncomfortable. I had to use bed pillows trying to make it usable. It took days for them to fix a leaky pipe under the bathroom sink.

Our room was clean but old. Holes in curtains. No chairs in room. No WiFi in rooms. Toilet leaked when flushed. Bed comfort ok. On the other hand, our house keeper Mina was excellent!! Very accommodating and kept our room clean and refreshed daily. Pool cloudy the entire two weeks and lounge chairs were atrocious!
