Great location but that's it.
Location is great. However you get what you pay for. Customer service has to improve significantly, especially fron desk. A little smile and courtesy goes a long way. I don't think I would stay here again.

This hotel is a great option for anyone coming to the city with a full schedule. As soon as you step out the door you are nearly at Time Square and all the related shopping and dining options. The rooms are not huge, and they show their age, and the bathrooms are downright tiny, but it's about what you would expect from a hotel in NYC. They do however really need to retrain their front desk staff. At checkin the woman behind the counter couldn't be bothered to stop the conversation she was having with someone else there (I have to assume a maintenance person) that was not at all work related. Rather than properly checking me in, she took my card, handed me room keys, and went right on talking with her friend. No explanation of amenities, didn't bother telling us where the elevators were, or what floor our room was on or anything. Other than that, it's a perfectly acceptable place to fall asleep for a few hours a night in between outings in the city.

I had a reservation on Expedia already and when I checked in the lady still charged my card the full price of one night after telling her I had a reservation. I didn’t notice I was charged for another night until 12am and I went down and a different man that was down there corrected it. I also had an uber eats order sent to me the following morning (2 waters and an energy drink) and they did not safeguard it until I came down. I was missing items that were purchased and when I asked what happened to my things they told me they didn’t know. Not the best hotel but close to Times Square.

The stay was okay because we were in the city to explore not necessarily stay at the property. The pictures for the property on the website are very deceiving and the rooms are just so so. Our room did not have a thermostat so we had to keep the window open for air when we stayed in the room and overnight. The elevators are very slow for the number of people staying at the property.
No thermostat and the little sign says use the thermostat on the wall hmmm

This place needs a lot of work. The walls and doors need fixed and repainted. Problems with the thermostat which took 4 hours to get maintenance to somewhat fix. Linens were fresh and clean. Housekeeping very nice. Front staff were mixed- some were nice others not so much. Would not choose to stay here again.

Pros: Hotel is in a good location, staff at check in were nice and the bed was comfortable. The cleaning staff were good and cleaned daily. Cons: Your flight home would probably have arrived before the lifts do, the room was falling apart, mine was cockroach infested, when I told staff I was told “it’s New York what do you expect”.

Really close to Times Square, The stay was fine as you don't really spend much time in one location when visiting NYC. We did have an exercise bike being stored in our room for some reason, not sure why or was given a reason why it was there.

What a poor experience at the Gallivant Hotel! The conditions of my room were very below average! I also made a new friend, a lovely huge cockroach, in the middle of the night in my bathroom. There was only one lift for the whole hotel, so after losing 10 min every day to use it, I used the staircase like most people. Great, when you are on the 9th floor, I feel lucky I was not on the 14th! The AC unit control on the wall was missing, so I have been told that I have to open the dirty rusty dusty unit to control it. Paint damage on every corner of the walls. The swing lock bar on the door was broken. The batteries in the remote for the TV were not working, so I had to ask someone to come replace them. There is no hairdryer, no shelves in the bathroom, and just the space to open the bathroom door half, as it is blocked by the toilets. The faucets of both the sink and the shower were half broken and were jingling around trying to turn them on and off. I almost felt lucky that the room had pillows and a (very) thin blanket! To avoid for sure, I will never come back!

The bed and bedding were awesome, slept like a baby. The elevators are stupid and slow. The staff uses the guest elevators instead of a service elevator, which really slows things down in the mid-morning hours. The staff was very inconsiderate in their use of the guest elevators - EG: holding the door open to hold conversations and wait for another staff member that was not in a rush to get on the elevator. Really upset me, as this is not normal for any hotel I have stayed at.

Wouldn't return, sadly.
To be honest, the pictures made it look better than it was. The room was tiny, bathroom you could only just turn around in. Bathroom clearly hadn't been cleaned as still had previous/other people's hair in it/ on the walls. Cockroach in the bedroom. Toothpick on the floor. But! The bed was very comfy and the shower pressure was good.
