I had read a lot of mixed reviews on this hotel but still chose to stay as I love the Ace Hotel chain. I was so happy with our visit. We had 2 double rooms and luckily these were on same floor. Both with views of empire state and a great size. The check in was seamless and the staff so friendly. The area around hotel had so much going on and the general location made it very walkable for us to explore uptown one day then downtown another. A train stop also close by. Yes it’s dark, yes they could do with more shelving in bathroom and yes it’s a vibe!

Some basic details would have helped this hotel go from a very marginal experience to better. The first would be some sound proofing- we stayed on the 12th floor and could hear every street noise because the windows were old and not sound proofed. The second would be the condition of the elevators. With every trip up or down, the elevators grind and clink and there is a real fear ofbeing trapped. Finally, the "gym" was VERY hot and they had a peloton tread- while nice, required a code, was very rarely able to be connected to the internet, or working.

Hotel was clean and staff were great but our room on the 12th was stifling hot the whole stay. They gave us a fan but it didn't help and windows only opened slightly.

We’ve stayed at the Ace many times but have to say you’ve taken the “old school Manhattan apartment theme” too far. As always chill cool vibes, good location, big rooms with friendly staff. But our view was of a brick wall, heater was so loud we had to turn it off to sleep, second day our shower didn’t have hot water, when you turned it on the walls/pipes would shake and make a noise for a good 10 min. All this for an amazing price of $1100/night CAD. Gotta love NYC 💕 we would go back 😆

Don't stay at the Ace if you like being warm
No heat or hot water during my two night stay. When I called back to discuss, the manager was very rude and unhelpful. I am going to seek refund from my bank.
