We stayed at the French market inn for 4 days and we had a mostly enjoyable visit! The property is clean if a bit dusty, has charming design and well located off of Decatur. Even though we were off a busy street the noise from outside, even the steamboat, never bothered us much at all.
The same can’t be said for the interior noise. Maybe it’s just what you get when you stay at older hotels but we heard far, far too much from both our next door and upstairs neighbors, the walls are far too thin. Being woken up at 1am by our neighbors’ horizontal tango was not pleasant, all 3 times it happened. The performance in the afternoon was just as bad.
The housekeepers could also use some door stoppers when they clean because the slamming doors at 10:30am were obnoxious.
Besides the noise, the beds are hard as a rock and if you’re a side sleeper, good luck/don't. The pillows are pretty terrible as well and they only give you 3. Imagine the pillow you get on a plane. Now imagine it lumpier.
On to some more good things! The bathroom was newly renovated and very nice, we had hot water and the tv had a great selection for whatever you needed to block out your neighbors humping. The whole room is dim and small, we weren’t expecting a cavernous space but having to step over our suitcases to cross the room was bad.
Overall we enjoyed our stay due to the great location of this hotel but not much else. It was wildly convenient for bars, restaurants, tours, uber and pretty much everything.
