Service and customer care in need. Food not tasty
Terrible service at the front desk, seems like they don't really care about what you say or do not want to engage much. Question about the lounge on the 12th floor was ask and the front desk staff did not want to answer and ask us to go upstair to find out on our own .

The room cleaner was not honest! My husband bought 2 cartoon of cigarettes at Duty free shop, KLIA. When we were arrive at our home then he realized he missing 6 packs of cigarettes which are we put each cartoon of cigarettes in 2 different bags. He/she took 3 packs from each cartoon and it shows that the hotel's cleaner open our bags with intention. Luckily we didn't leave any valuable things inside the room. For those who want to stay here Pls make sure u use a pad lock to lock your bag before u leave the room.

wont choose this hotel again
honestly, i dont expect this service from novotel, i dont really enjoy this place... some people got welcome drink but my family didnt get it... receptionist didnt smile at all, i dont know if she is tired or whatever. she ask me to stay until 2 pm to enter the room, and i was waiting until 2.10 pm but she didnt call me at all to enter the room until i decide to ask her about my room... i dont get a great service at all

Very Comfortable Stay
We just had one night here after a stay in Toraja before a flight out. Walking distance to the fort and lots of food options around. The room was lovely and comfortable. Staff were always friendly and helpful. Breakfast had a huge variety and we were super impressed! Less than half an hour to the airport too.

Very poor room condition. Hotel hardly 2 years old (), aircond didn't work in room, had to change room. Twice, the room before and the room changed to, don't provide hand towels... both needed to ask.. Novotel new standard? Had dinner at its casual outlet.. very poor standard and not value for money. (Competitor Aryaduta has better offerings... if they can.. why can't Novotel Makassar..)

Pleasant stay in Makassar
I stayed at Novotel Makassar Grand Shayla for 10 days. The staff were very accommodating and willing to help with my concerns. The hotel is also located close to restaurants and convenience stores. Breakfast was also very good but they could probably do with a little more variety as the same food was served everyday.

At par with Novotel chain.
Check-in was painless, room was clean and comparable to another Novotel hotels. Dinner buffet is preffereable to limited menu Some minor maintenance required; 2/3 of a closet door hinges were unattached, the temperature control kept blinking"Err" , so no clue what it was trying to set.

So many downsides but in an okay location.
The hotel is new but has some problems when it comes to the quality of the construction. Loose sockets, torn pillowcase and also a loose door handle(bathroom door). The service was also bad, when I checked in, only one person in the front desk and I had to call her to get her to notice me. Everything that is supposed to be a standard in a hotel, I had to personally call the housekeeping for toothbrush set and extra slippers. The food also needs a lot of improvement in taste. The location is okay.
