Rodents and Broken Air Conditioning
This is a standard, Castle-managed Kanaloa unit with no upgrades or updates. Decorated like a hotel room. Comfortable furniture. Sparsely stocked. The third night we discovered rodent droppings, urine, and damage throughout the kitchen and other areas.The following morning we reported this to the front desk staff who told us they would contact maintenance and housekeeping. We were charged to have the condo cleaned. Maintenance did not respond until two days later. In the interim, we purchased traps and caught two mice in the unit. The air conditioning stopped working after the third day. We reported this. Again, maintenance did not respond and we were without air con for the rest of a 10 day stay. Staff was pleasant, but unresponsive. Neither problem was treated with interest or urgency; we were told that “these are condos, these things happen”. We have stayed in Kanaloa units more than a dozen times, and always have looked forward to returning. This time, not so much.
