The condo itself was a little dark and probably could use some updated furnishings. It was pretty clean but could have been a bit better. Having hot water to shower was hit or miss. It was spacious and the kitchen was well stocked. The washer worked well but the DRYER was ventless and USELESS!!! On our last night we encountered a giant COCKROACH and the next morning we saw 2 CENTIPEDES! We were always able to find a parking space but the tennis courts are very low-beware in an suv. The property as a whole had beautiful landscaping, a beautiful new pool area, gas grills and an amazing view from the pool deck. Only .75 miles down the road was a ton of great restaurants and some shopping! We did not have any contact with the management team.

We splurged and stayed in a two bedroom condo so our daughter could have her own bedroom. This property was definitely worth it! It was spacious, very clean and extremely well stocked! There were plenty of beach toys, snorkel gear and beach towels for everyone. The chairs overlooking the ocean were amazing for sunset views, and the rocks in front were fun for exploring the tide pools- just be careful of the high surf! You have to drive to the beach and most of them are pretty rocky, so I recommend driving to Hapuna beach for that quintessential beach experience. Also Two Step and the national park next door are not to be missed!

Was initially concerned about not staying on the beach but this was an absolute perfect location as a homebase to explore the coast line. Great location to restaurants that stayed open later as the view of sunset right off pool area was ideal. The pool area is quiet and very relaxing after a day at the beach/hiking. the condo had everything you will need and more- appreciated the details such as the welcome basket, non perishables, cookware, and even first aid kit. Would definitely stay here again and recommend.

Perfect slice of paradise
We loved this property! Very quiet, beautiful views, nice amenities. I wouldn’t say it was very “kid friendly” the pool has some pretty intense rules, but we didn’t come for to Hawaii for pools. Very short walk to green flash coffee, we had it almost every morning! Will definitely look to stay here again in the future!

This Kailua property is in a fantastic location! Just 1 mile south of the Kona Shopping area. An easy walk (if it's not too hot). And, the complex is VERY quiet. Plenty of beds for sleep. The master bed was very comfortable. We rented, specifically because there was a 2nd king size bed in the other bedroom...I hear that one was not as comfortable. The kitchen is very well appointed with Keurig brewer, tea pot, and loads of pots and pans and utensils for cooking! Lots of spices in the cupboard, as well. Great view of the sunset from the pool area. We could have used another comfy chair in the living room, since we had a party of 4, but other than that, excellent! Through Evolve, we found that the fees/taxes added on was substantial, so keep that in mind. The overall price per night was closer to $300. We would definitely rent this unit again! Loved all of the beach gear, including chairs, umbrellas, beach towels, zip up cooler. We used these every day...it was a God-send! Thanks to Cynthia and Mike who took very good care of us while we were on vacation!

This was a great place to stay! We had our issues with Evolve when we had to reschedule our stay due to COVID but we worked it out and once we got there it was great! We arrived in the dark and it was raining so that was a little difficult. They could do a better job of describing the parking. Basically enter through the gate and turn left. Find a place to park and then go find your building number and room. Several wagons around to haul stuff is very helpful. The unit was clean and very similar to what is pictured. We couldn't make the TV work but that wasn't a problem really. We booked over a year and a half ago and are so glad we finally got our vacation in. It was wonderful! Thank you.

We stay at Kona Makai every year. It's a lovely complex, convenient to town and activities. This unit is very comfortable and well furnished, the kitchen in particular. The master bedroom bed is comfy. The owner-managers were welcoming and responsive. We enjoyed our stay very much!

It is a clean condo, access was easy, but the lock was hard to open at times. The beds are very hard, all of us had difficulty sleeping, this could be solved by some mattress pads.

The property is beautiful and conveniently located near the restaurants and shopping in Kona. We had plenty of space for two couples. This unit is not fancy but very functional. This unit was in a convenient location, was updated, and included all of the supplies we could need. The complex has beautiful greenery and great ocean views from the pool area. The gated entry at night also made it feel safe. Parking was always readily available in the lot. However, it wasn’t as spacious as we had hoped. We stayed with 4 adults and 2 children (ages 5 and 10). The futon in the 2nd bedroom was small; our 10 year old daughter’s feet were hanging off the end. With the futon open and closet filled with beach supplies and linens, there was little room for our suitcases. The master was much better. Much of the bedding and towels looked, felt and smelled old. The dining cushions also had a musty smell. Many of the pillows were old and stained, which was an unpleasant discovery. The washer and dryer were new, but because the dryer was a no-vent type, it literally took 4 hours to dry one load! We ended up taking a wet load with us when we left and had to hunt down a coin-operated dryer. Overall, the unit was indeed updated but the furnishings and other aspects of it felt dated. Instead of feeling like we were staying at a hotel with the added convenience of a kitchen and living room, it felt more like we were staying at someone’s house while they were away.
