By far my most favourite place I have stayed in Japan. The property is stunning, I was blown away upon arrival with just how beautiful it was, the staff are friendly and helpful, the room was spacious and had an incredible view and I thoroughly enjoyed the onsen both on the balcony and the public onsen. Breakfast and dinner were both amazing and were beyond my expectations. The location was incredible for exploring, you can catch a lift from the grounds of the hotel that takes you to the car park of the Sounzan ropeway or the cable car. All the staff were so wonderful and made our stay even more special.

Most wonderful experience I've ever had of any stay in all of my travels. Wonderful service, amenities. We are vegetarian and they accommodated a vegetarian kaiseke dinner, which was one of the best meals I've ever had.

Gora Hanaougi was the perfect place to stay for the Hakone portion of my trip to Japan. The staff were attentive and professional, the memory of the food will probably last my lifetime, and the room was fantastic. If I ever have the chance to visit Hakone again, I doubt I will consider staying anywhere else.

Gora is the best private onsen you can stay at in Hakone. Traditional ryokan at its finest, Japanese style or western style rooms with a private bath in room. Large natural baths and indoor bathing areas, seasonal ingredient kaiseki set dinner and breakfast included! Staff is always 5* service and lovely. Bit out of the way up the mountain but worth the trip.

The service rendered by the staff was impeccable - Joshua, Aiyumi and the watchman plus all staff who worked there ensured we were well taken care of and provided excellent assistance particularly on transport arrangements. Food was a lot and great. The private onsen in our room was excellent and my son enjoyed it. The public onsen with the outdoor garden was beautiful, my daughter and I enjoyed it very much. We will be back again.

The staff of the Gora Hanaougi and their culinary team are all exceptional. Every need was met with kindness and consideration, and in some cases some needs were met before they were expressed because of the staffs dedicated observation. I have never received such a high level of care and every amenity was provided and the rooms were spacious and beautiful. The kaiseki meals were all beautiful and delicious. The private onsen was convenient and private. The staff were also very helpful in providing gentle guidance of the various etiquettes surrounding onsen/Ryokan culture. Though my Japanese is essentially non existent, communication was never an issue.
