It is only 5 miles from Grantown-on-Spey and a walk away from the River Spey. The cottage sits pride of place looking down the valley on Wester Lethendry Farm, which covers the lower and upper hill ground in this area. Entering the property there is a vestibule area with lots of space for boots and coats, ideal to get rid of muddy gear after a long day exploring the National Park. From the hallway, the kitchen/dining room is off to the left and is triple-aspect so enjoys lots of light, and the patio doors leading onto the large decking area are a great feature. From the dining space you have fantastic views down the valley across open fields. There’s comfortable garden furniture on the decking, so you can enjoy long evenings outside relaxing in a truly spectacular spot. The spacious living room has a wood burner, 42" Smart TV, a Sonos sound bar and a large, stylish corner sofa and amazing views down the valley. On the first floor there are three good-sized bedrooms.
The farm interestingly hosts notable historic monuments including Lethendry Castle and Tower dating back to the Medieval age. They are fascinating spots to take a stroll and explore. The cottage setting is lovely, positioned in the centre of a large enclosed plot with views down Strathspey and with the Hills of Cromdale spilling down from the Cairngorm Mountains.
Being based on the farm near Cromdale offers a wealth of things to see and do. The Cairngorms National Park has countless opportunities for walking and mountain biking, and in the winter you can enjoy local skiing and snowshoeing. There is plenty of wildlife that will often stroll past the cottage and in the National Park where you will find red deer, golden eagle, pine marten, but also rarer species like the ptarmigan and reindeer. The landscapes are varied, majestic and unlike anywhere else in the UK. These are historic mountains and forests that offer experiences unique in this part of Europe.
Grantown-on-Spey is only 5 miles away and offers many bars, cafés and restaurants, as well as a great golf course and of course world-famous fishing on the Spey for salmon, sea trout and brown trout. The Speyside distilleries are only a short distance down river, and there are many neighbouring villages with much to offer, including Nethy Bridge, Boat of Garten, Carrbridge and Aviemore. Stay at Knocknahighle and be in the perfect spot to have a truly unforgettable holiday. Shop, pub and restaurant 5 miles.
