Avoid Vacasa-managed rental properties. Initially, we booked through Vrbo, but had to deal with Vacasa's poor management and lack of communication. Hurricane Beryl hit Texas two weeks before our check-in, and despite several reassurances from Vacasa that our original property was fine, it turned out the owners were living there. This led to us being relocated twice.
The final property, Coronado's Getaway, was a disaster. It was filthy with sand on the floors, dirty dishes and counters, filthy bathrooms, and couches different from the photos. There were dead roaches everywhere, no face towels or hand soap, and sand in all the beds. We had to wash all the linens ourselves. We all had bedbug bites. We ended up spending the first night of our stay cleaning the unit, essentially paying to clean it for them.
I informed Vacasa about the state of the property before we left, and their call center representative promised a call from a local office, which never came. Instead, I received an email offering a $50 reimbursement for the unclean unit, which was insulting given the conditions. I called Vrbo to escalate the issue, provided them with pictures, and demanded a full refund. Despite their efforts, Vacasa gave us a partial reimbursement.
Dealing with Vacasa was incredibly frustrating and disappointing. The lack of communication, poor customer service, and unacceptable property conditions make them a company to avoid. Save yourself the trouble and stay away from Vacasa.
