This home is beautifully decorated with several amenities to make you feel right at home. Take advantage of the outdoor shower on-site after spending the day at the beach–rinse off the sand, head back inside, and settle in for a relaxing time at home. Galveston State Park is also just down the street with access to the bay for fishing and boating.

Good house but serious AC issues
Sandpiper Place is a good house with great bathrooms and a well-stocked kitchen. Unfortunately, the air conditioner was not working well at all, and what was planned to be a relaxing getaway was punctuated with multiple calls to VACASA and 2 visits from an AC tech. Also, one of the reasons we chose this house is because of what looked like a very comfy couch in the pictures. Again, the reason for the vacation was to relax and chill, whether that was on the beach or on the couch. Unfortunately, the couch that is shown in the pictures is not actually in the house. There are 2 different couches, neither one of them comfy. We would book this house again, but only if the air conditioner and couches are replaced. We are still waiting to hear back from VACASA on compensation for the air conditioner not working.

This home was in the perfect location for our family. The beach was not crowded at all and it was just a quick 2 minute walk! The drive down Seawall to all the nightlife was 15 minutes and it was so nice coming back to the quiet.

Smell of dogs and the front door issue
I know this property is a dog friendly one. But the main living room couches really stank. Like dog’s urine. Because the couches were cottons type, it really holds the smell. We couldn’t sit there to enjoy a movie. Also, the front door( the main door) wouldn’t lock. I contacted the manager but I got no response. I also contacted that the couches smelled like urine and nothing happened. Pro: The house decorations were really cute. The location was pretty nice. Some areas in the patio had the ocean view. There is another house right in front of it, but you can still see the ocean some areas. Definitely walking distance. Pretty quiet neighborhood.

Beautiful Updated Beach house, but it literally stinks.
We stay on Bermuda Beach a couple times a year at various rented houses. We were excited to stay at the beautifully updated Sandpiper Place for a relaxing week. However, our stay was tainted from the moment we walked in the door and were hit was a horrible, overwhelming smoky and musty cigarette smell throughout the house. The air intake filter was filthy, as were the fans in every room. We contacted Vacasa several times, and a work order was submitted, but nothing was ever done, and we were not contacted or helped in any way. We did the best we could with the situation - cleaning and replacing the air filter, spraying the entire house with Febreeze multiple times a day. It’s clear the owners or someone is aware of it smelling because there are “odor eliminators" in the rooms. The smell stayed with us and only got slightly better throughout our stay. However, it still permeated our clothes, and all items we brought to the house. Additionally, the couches (which reeked of the smell), were cheap uncomfortable couches, not the comfortable-looking blue one shown in the pictures here. Overall, the house is nicely updated and could easily be a very nice place to stay, as we had anticipated. The bathrooms are modern and nice, the beds are comfortable with nice layered linens, there are personal details and amenities throughout that make it a great beach house. The beach itself is easily accessible, and we loved sitting on the breezy deck watching the waves. I hope they can fix the smell and the routine cleaning of the air intake filter and the fans for the future.

The location of the house is close to the beach so they do get extra points for that. However, it is also located across the street from an abandoned "ghost" house across the street. We got a kick of that actually and it's not something the owners can control. The listing also doesn't mention the green mildew or mold growing on the outside of the house, it needs a good power washing. The inside of the house itself does look like the pictures but for someone that really pays attention to where they are staying, the cleaning crew is definitely cutting alot of corners. Literally corners with dust and dirt. The air return grate was rusted really bad. It seems like they would change that often with as much humidity as they are dealing with. We had an issue with the main blinds over the front door on our first night and reported it immediately. I hope it gets fixed after we reported the issue. Overall, I'd give them a solid 3 out of 5. Close to the beach, decent house for the price but it's just okay.
