Major German Airports

The two biggest airports in Germany are in Frankfurt and Munich. Although the country is served by a network of smaller airports, Frankfurt and Munich handle the bulk of passengers. The Frankfurt Airport is located 7 miles south of Frankfurt, at the intersection of Highway 5 and Highway 3. The Munich International Airport is located 25 miles from the centre of Munich, just east of Highway 92.

Transportation from Airports in Germany

Most airports in Germany have excellent local transportation options. If you are flying into Frankfurt, the easiest way to get out of the airport is by train. The station is located beneath Terminal 1 and offers regional connections and links to cities around Germany. S-Bahn lines S8 and S9 offer fast service to the city for €4.10. If you are flying into Munich, the train connections are a particularly good value. The ride into the city takes 40 minutes, and a one-way ticket is €10. If you are planning to travel around the city the same day you fly in, a better value is the unlimited day pass, which costs €11. For groups, the partner ticket costs €19.80 and covers up to five people. Taxis, buses and rental cars are also available at both airports.
