Les Papillons 4/6, Pool, Balcony, Garden & Courtyard, Top Location & Activities

*Taire du Grel, Domme*

LES PAPILLONS GITE...
This pretty traditional stone cottage has a private balcony surrounded with wisteria, and looks out over the gardens and the courtyard, with views of the forest covered hills, often dotted with hot air balloons floating by.
Its private courtyard terrace has a table and chairs and a BBQ, and beyond is a private garden area with a picnic table and a bench-swing.
Beyond the garden you will find the large shared swimming pool, the play area, and additional lawns which are fenced around the perimeter.

Enter from the courtyard into a large kitchen with a glass door leading onto the balcony, and a second door which leads to the dining room and living area, with a wooden floor, original beams and stonework. A bright and fresh area with a comfortable layout, and a large wood burning stove for cosy and atmospheric winter stays.
The traditional thick stone walls and shutters keep it cool in summer, as well as ceiling fans in both bedrooms and the living area.

A door from the living area leads to a cloak room, and ground floor bathroom with a shower, toilet and washbasin.

The wooden staircase in the living room leads to two bedrooms, with original roof beams to the peak, and black out blinds.

The first bedroom has twin beds which can be pushed together. The second bedroom has a king-size bed (160x200) and a small bathroom with a bath, washbasin and a toilet.

A double sofa-bed is also available in the living room on request.

There is a folder in the cottage with information on nearby attractions, activities and restaurants.
Free wifi, English free-sat tv, french tv, games, books, DVD player and DVDs. Towels and sheets provided. Pets welcome on request.

SHARED SPACES
The large swimming pool is surrounded by sun loungers and parasols and overlooks lawns and fruit trees.
Watch our free-range chickens explore the gardens, and enjoy the play area with table tennis, a giant trampoline, swings, badminton and a tyre monster. Ball games are also permitted on the larger fields behind the property.
Off road parking is available in front of the main building and there is a shared laundry room.

LOCATION...

Idyllic Four Days in perfect setting
Everything about Les Papillons is thoughtful, beautiful and comfortable - the house gardens pool are really well set up & managed - the owners are very helpful but unobtrusive - the facilities are great, even down a little shop which saved us going out to buy wine after our long journey - cheers! Can’t fault anything and can’t wait to return!

Lovely gite and great location
We really enjoyed our stay at this gite. The gite itself was lovely and had everything needed, whilst the site in general had a lovely pool and stuff to keep my son entertained. Ben was extremely helpful and friendly, including taking us kayaking. The location is great, close to numerous nice towns and attractions. Would recommend La Chalet for a good meal and swim in the river. Would certainly recommend this place to family and friends and we are likely to visit again

Domme review
Everything was great, Ben, Ian and.Carol were very helpful and friendly and the gite had everything you wish to have with a great pool area. Walking into Domme could be physically challenging to some but the rewards are worth it. Very small quibbles are could have new towels and a stand for the toilet rolls.

Great family holiday
Lovely place in a tranquil location with pool which our teenagers loved. The local village Domme is one of the most beautiful in the region too. The gite itself is very well equipped, comfy beds and loads of space to relax. Ben, the host, was on call whenever you needed it too.

A week was to short
The gite was full of character and very clean and well equipped. It sits in a great location in beautiful countryside but easy distance to Domme and other local attractions. We loved the extra touches like the little shop with the honesty box and being able to hire a canoe and be dropped off/picked up by Ben. I’m sure we’ll be back.

Beautiful gite in lovely quiet rural setting. Very clean and comfortable, with very well equipped kitchen and adjacent terrace to sit outside and eat. Beautiful cottage!
We had an incredible stay at this beautiful gite! The host is fantastic, very easy to communicate with, and very helpful. The property is quiet, quaint and in the gorgeous country side. The gite has the utmost charm both inside and out. The beds were super comfortable, and we had every amenity one could need. The woodburning stove was so wonderful and cozy. There are so many beautiful attractions near this property. We were sad to leave, and vowed that we must come back to stay again when we have more time to enjoy the gite and the surrounding area with all the beauty it has to offer.

Lovely setting; peaceful and relaxing but with the opportunity to be very active if you want to!
A very pretty gite, gardens and surrounding area with friendly owners who ensure your holiday gives you the best opportunities to really enjoy the area. The garden and pool offer lots of space and the fields and campfire area keep the children delighted! A short walk takes you into Domme, where the walk around the town and the cave visit provide an interesting morning or afternoon. The gite is extremely well placed to explore the surrounding area.

Simply delightful!
We spent the most amazing fortnight in La Maison des Roses. The house, pool and gardens were just lovely with everything we could wish for (the bottle of bubbly on arrival was also welcome!) & Ben & Maria are wonderful hosts. We took advantage of the opportunity to explore the area by cycle & canoe - all arranged by Ben. The area is just beautiful: Domme is a lovely town within a short walk & all the Dordogne's many attractions are within an easy drive - we explored prehistoric caves at Rouffignac, the chasm at Padirac, Rocamadour & the beautiful town of Sarlat. We can't recommend this too highly & we're looking forward to going back!

Excellent property with good facilities
Taire du Grel is a beautiful cottage close to Domme and the Dordogne. It is very quiet. Domme is only a mile or so away with beautiful views and a lovely setting with fabulous shops and restaurants. The cottage was perfect for our family of four (we have two boys 7 and 10 yrs). We used the pool every day, played table tennis and badminton and went on the trampoline. Ben and Maria were great hosts. They looked after all of our needs as much or as little as we needed, but weren't intrusive in any way. Everything was clean and well maintained, Ben and Maria made sure we had everything we needed. They lend out their canoes but unfortunately don't have one for 4 so we were unable to make use of this. Thanks for a fabulous holiday!

Lovely escape
We had a peaceful few days, enjoying the garden, large pool, table tennis and sunshine. Our dog liked exploring the nearby fields and walks. There are some beautiful places to explore not too far away by car including Domme and Sarlat along with opportunities to canoe down the river. The gite was comfortable and included everything we needed for our short break.

Great stay in heart of the Dordogne
A great place to explore the Dordogne valley from. This gite offered excellent accommodation, including a pool, within a stroll of the beautiful Domme. The river is a 2 minute drive from which many of the many sites are just a few minutes drive away. They even have their own canoes & transport to enable you to explore the river at your own pace. The hosts were very welcoming & have prepared extensive guides & information about the region to assist guests. They have 3 separate gites so even great for a group of families. A definite recommendation for anyone visiting the Dordogne.

Superb stay in a most beautiful part of France with lovely hosts.
My wife and I plus our Labrador stayed 5 wonderful weeks in this great but small gite complex. We had the most wonderful time. It is within walking distance of Domme that is stunningly beautiful and of course not far from Sarlat. However what made our stay special was the welcome from Ben , Maira, Ian, Carol and Mark, the family who own and run the homes. They could not have been more helpful and friendly. There is plenty to do in the area and Ben in particular will facilitate most activities you can think of. If you are looking for a relaxing, historically interesting or a holiday with activities you will be hard pressed to find better than here. It is all wrapped up in a friendly informality that is not always present in other places.
