Hotel is in a residential area, walkable to the town center and the shore. Basic hotel room with little dated furnishings, but adequate for one night before boarding the cruise. Shuttle to a ship 5 Euro/per person is a great service.

This is a Family-owned Hotel. They care about their customers! Long story short, I broke a tooth having lunch at a nearby restaurant...the day before our 10-day cruise! Came back to hotel, told the owner (Johnny) what happened. He said, "I will call my dentist". His wife, Rita, called the dentist. The dentist could take me in 15 minutes. It was walking distance and Johnny was showing me on the map how to get there. Rita jumped in, speaking to him in Italian. He slowly turned to me and said, "My wife has just instructed me that I will drive you to the dentist". We all had a good laugh. He drove us there, walked us into the office, spoke with the dentist. She took me in, placed a temporary filling in a big hole in my tooth. I was in and out of there in 15 minutes. I went to pay, and they would not take any money from me. "WOW" on both the dentist, as well as the owners of the hotel. We later brought them a bottle of wine as a show of our appreciation. As well, Rita has a business of her own. She creates beautiful jewellery and showcases them in the breakfast area. I just had to buy one, both because the jewellery was beautiful, but I also wanted to have a reminder of Rita and Johnny and how absolutely kind and helpful they were to me, a customer that they had only known for a few minutes that day. The room we had was wonderful, clean, and larger than comparable hotels in Italy. The cost of the room was VERY reasonable. We HIGHLY recommend HOTEL TRAIANO in Civitavecchia, Italy !

Excellent property located close to the dining and drinking establishments. Short 15 minute walk. Staff was great and room was a large size. Get there early for breakfast. Stayed for one night prior to cruise. Shuttle to ship was real nice and on time. Would definitely recommend.

Cant say enough about the staff and location of this property. If you read reviews some are not complementary. As an American who has lived abroad I can assure you this hotel is pretty good. Yes its old but clean and unique. Actually had a room KEY that you turned in at the desk upon going out. It honestly made our visit special and we will always remember our stay there!
