The Palmer House was 2 blocks from the Art Institute which was perfect for us. The hotel restaurant had an excellent breakfast in the morning which we enjoyed. Easy access in and out of the parking garage let us roam Chicago for some excellent Polish and Greek restaurants that we enjoyed. We will be staying there again on our next trip.

Charming architecture and wonderful history in this lovely historic hotel. Great location near the Art institute, Chicago cultural center and famous marshal fields building (home of Macy’s now). The decor at Christmas is magical! Downsides are very slow elevators and crowded restaurant at breakfast. Stay on a lower floor.

Loved the Palmer House. Our favorite hotel anywhere. However, this year they have added these awful big screen TVs in the beautiful grand lobby bar and they distract terribly from the ambiance, decor, and vibe of the place. It is not a sports bar. Many other customers at the bar shared this opinion. Take them out! Otherwise a lovely stay in one of the most beautiful hotels in the US. Thank you!

Beautiful and historic hotel. The public areas of the hotel are gorgeous! Our room was clean, however, the wallpaper was severely peeling, and the tub surround seemed a little flimsy when i used the shower. Its a busy hotel, and very near Millenium Park, and the Art Institute. Very walkable to lots of restaurants and ither touristy places. We had a blast.

Nice stay but don’t bother upgrading!
We typically stay here two or three times a year and while the stays are always nice they are quite inconsistent. This time we were offered an upgrade at a discounted fee and the room was more dated, had an odor and was in poorer condition than the last stay in a standard room. Still overall a beautiful and charming hotel and will return to this location!

Icon hotel but understaffed
In general it was very nice. Lobby was lovely, elevators quick, workout room very nice. But we waited in line for over 90 minutes just to check in. There were over 60 people checking in and only one person working the general side and another working the honors side. We nearly missed our show and others were late for a Bears game. It was ridiculously understaffed when you knew how many would be checking in.

Definitely getting what you pay for. The rooms are a bit tight, but beautiful. You can tell some are dated and cheaply put together to cover discrepancies. The Amenities make up for it.

Went to Chicago for a getaway with my husband over New Year’s. Palmer house is stunning, beautiful, and a beautiful example of art nouveau style. Despite being a historic hotel, the room was spacious, with all the amenities. The only thing I was disappointed in at Palmer house was the spa. In a hotel, where everything is elegant and opulent, the spa at Palmer house is small, cramped, and as plain as dry toast. The massage I got was great, but the setting Definitely left something to be desired.

Nice hotel, old school type but still modern, we did have an issue with the shower in one room, but they were helpful with putting us in another room. The room itself I wish could have been a little bit more modern and up to date but it was fine. Bed was comfortable, heating worked. I wouldn’t fine going back.
