The space
As you enter, the guesthouse or "casita" as we call them in Austin, has an L-shaped kitchen to the right and a foldable dining table/work space with foldable cafe chairs in a niche to your left. In front of you is a seating area with a chair and 3-seater sofa that can be folded out into a queen sofa bed. The other half of the casita is a queen bed (also foldable), 3 foot wide wardrobe, and a private bathroom. Travel themed decor features vintage items collected by the owners while living and traveling in Europe in the early 2000's.
Guest access
Access to the unit is directly off the street, down a gently sloping river rock path of rocks 1-3 inches in size. This is not wheelchair accessible, nor should you use this path with a cane/crutches, etc. You may have to carry bags with tiny wheels and should consider wearing flat shoes. Path lighting illuminates this walkway from dusk till dawn for your convenience. This neighborhood does not have restricted parking and is extremely pedestrian friendly. Near to major roads Lamar, Burnet, 45th, and Mopac yet quiet and peaceful.
Other things to note
A NOTE ABOUT TAXES - The state of Texas imposes a 6% Hotel Occupancy Tax on stays 29 days or less and the City of Austin imposes an 11% tax on stays of 29 days or less.
For the environmentally conscious traveler, please note that the casita is powered by a 9kw solar panel system on our main house roof and features a highly efficient on demand water heater and mini split for heating and cooling. If you are traveling in an Electric Car, we have provided a standard 110V power outlet in our landscaping adjacent to where you will park on the street into which you can plug in a “mobile” car charger if you travel with one.
