The Fred Guest House was a one-night stay so that we could be conveniently at the Zurich Bahnhof Train Station the next morning to conveniently take the train to the airport. As such, my wife and I chose an inexpensive (for Switzerland), no-frills hotel. The check-in process was all electronic and done in advance. This should have been convenient, but there were odd issues with verifying my personal information and with the web page itself that required multiple attempts. Once checked in, we received an electronic key to be activated by phone off their web page. The absence of any physical key might be complicated for some, and even unlocking some doors required patience. Our actual room was really tiny, with barely any space to lay anything out. There was no desk, only a small night stand on one side, and a small open cabinet at the corner. There was no air conditioning, though a floor fan was somewhat useful in providing circulation. Our room also faced the street, so we were able to cool the room by opening the window. The bathroom was also tiny, with nowhere to really place any clothes or belongings. If we were staying for more than one night, this would have been a very frustrating place of lodging. But as it was only one night, we just made do. I'd recommend this place for anyone trying to be as frugal as possible while staying in a central and convenient area. But the room itself is really quite constricted, and multiple days would be tough for many.

This was a great hotel overall! The location was convenient and the surrounding amenities were amazing. Rico was super helpful during check-in. He provided me with some local food spots to check out and they were on point. Definitely coming back and staying at the Fred Guest House again.

Right next to the main train station. The listing says it takes 7 minutes to the main train station but really it o my takes a turn around the corner. The 7 minutes is to the main terminal. Because of many other access points it is actually closer. The air conditioning was effective however it does leak water. Also the bathroom sink doesn’t effectively drain water away.

There's no A/C in the room! Not worth the money for the room! Yes, it was clean but we had to keep the windows open. With the windows open we had to listen to street noise all night!

The staff were very friendly and helpful; every single one. The property is near the centre )10 min walk) and 5 min walk to the train station; lots of restaurants and cafes nearby. Delicious breakfast for 15 Euros; well worth it. The only issue was the size of the rooms. They were extremely small (which we knew about) but it worked for us since we were there for one night.

It was a great location a few blocks from both the train station and bus station. The receptionist was very nice and friendly and let us check in early for no charge. But the room we had for 2 was very small. The buffet breakfast was delicious!

the location is best, mins from train station, grocery shop is next to the hotel, make it easy if need some juice or fruits. The room is space, offer free coffee and hot water which is very improtant to me. the breakfast we paid for, I think worth the money.

Fred Guest House is a simple but comfortable accommodation 7 mins walk from Zurich main train station. It is opposite (<1 min) from the Fred Hotel. Also very convenient is the Silquai bus terminal just next to guest house for travellers taking buses from other European cities or planning to take an excursion. I only stayed for one night but it was good enough. The additional touch was the free coffee and hot water dispenser on ground level, as well as complimentary gummy sweets at the Fred Hotel reception. You can leave your luggage before and after check in at the hotel building side. The guest house operated based on digital keys assigned to your email on mobile phone, however you can request for physical card key as well. It was so convenient and served the purpose for my one night stay. Also wish to commend positively Richard and Veronica for being super helpful and answering all my questions.

This was quite easy to get to and incredibly close to the train station and bus tour area. There was an excellent corner store near by to by breakfast and lunch options. All tasty and healthy. Lots of stairs but a tiny elevator if you need it.
