What a terrible hotel. Such a waste of money staying here. It feels like you're staying in an apartment in a low-income community. The interiors are tattered and are poorly maintained. Wallpaper chipping off everywhere. Lots of black stains on the walls. Laundry room is so dirty and the machines do not look like they are cleaned regularly. The dryer takes forever to dry so you'll need to keep on adding money. It is advertised as a three-star hotel but definitely feels and looks like a motel. The pictures do not show the condition of the hotel. Entering the building and walking along the halls made me feel scared. The receptionist was quite rude and definitely did not show the Japanese "omotenashi" spirit. I booked a non-smoking room but it seems like the smoke from smoking rooms gets transferred through the air conditioning vent that is shared throughout the rooms so I had to suffer through the smell. Gave me a huge headache. Called the front desk around midnight but there was no one. I definitely, absolutely do not recommend staying here.
Hotel Crown Hills Yamagata is conveniently located near the train station and an easy walk to the downtown area. Not only were the staff polite and helpful, our room was comfortable and quiet. The amenities we expected were there, with the option to get additional items we needed, and extras we didn't expect, including a robe and slippers. This hotel also included a washing machine and dryer available for its guests for a reasonable cost. We would stay here again!
The hotel is close to the railway station and there are many eating places nearby. They open till late in the evening which is great cos I reach the hotel around 9 and reliefed that I can still have proper meals. However the parking spaces near the hotel are rather expensive and the cheaper ones are about 7-8 minutes walk away. The room is fine but a bit small.
Hotel only 3 blocks from JR train station. Be advised that there is a night club area right next to the hotel. The lobby is on the 3rd floor of the building. There are elevators. Even though I was on a non smoking floor, I could still smell smoking. The air conditioning works well, too well. If left on, it would make your room uncomfortably cold. No thermostat. Breakfast was included in my rate. The selection was ok, but the staff was slow to replenish items and had to be asked several times. On the 5th floor, there was an area with a microwave oven, massage chair, and laundry facilities.
