Owls Nest - Peace and Tranquility near Woodbridge & Framlingham in rural Suffolk

PEACE AND TRANQUILITY, thats what you will experience if you book a stay at Owls Nest .In fact many of our guests comment on the beautiful idilic location as soon as they arrive .Owls Nest has been awarded a Preferred Partner Award in 2018 by the Homeaway group and a Çertificate of Excellence by Tripadvisor in 2017 and 2018 . This first floor accommodation is accessible via an external wooden staircase. The accommodation sleeps 2 people and has a bedroom with a double bed and built in wardrobe, 1 bathroom with bath and shower, and a kitchen/lounge dining room. The kitchen is fully equipped including a built in fridge ,washer/dryer machine, electric hob, and combi microwave. There is a breakfast bar with bar stools. The lounge dining room has a dining table and chairs a sofa and armchair with foot stool and built in cupboards. There is TV/ DVD, internet access and oil fired central heating in the property.

The property benefits from lovely views to the back and front and has a light and airy feel with a large window in the main living area.

The barn enjoys a very quiet rural location with 17 acres of land encompassing the property and acres of farmland surrounding its boundaries which can be explored on one of the many public footpaths. The local landscape is mostly made up of various arable crops and the odd field of sheep.

Quiet single track lanes lead to the nearest village of Charsfield about 1.5 miles away where there is a pub, petrol station, church and recreation ground with a tennis court. The nearest shop and post office is located in the village of Otley about 10 minutes drive away or alternatively at Wickham Market also a 10 minute drive where there are shops and amenities including Chinese & Indian restaurants and a fish & chip shop.

It also has a very pleasant shopping centre with small interesting shops, pubs and restaurants, Woodbridge has a cinema, railway station and swimming pool. Framlingham also has plenty of history and is famous for its castle a magnificent 12th century fortress with a long and colourful past which makes a fascinating day out. The castle was once the refuge of Mary Tudor before she became Queen in 1553 and visitors can now explore over 800 years of life at Framlingham Castle. Like Woodbridge, Framlingham also has small shops and coffee shops to visit.
The Suffolk Heritage Coast, an area of outstanding natural beauty is within a short drive. The many places to visit include Aldeburgh which is well known for its international music festival. It also hosts an annual regatta and carnival. There are interesting shops and places to eat including famous fish and chips which can be enjoyed on the beach. Another is Southwold a charming town with a pier and beach and home to the Adnams beer where you can take a tour of the brewery. At Minsmere you will find the RSPB reserve. There is so much to see and hear at Minsmere: splendid woodland, wetland and coastal scenery, rare birds breeding and calling in on their migrations, shy wildlife like otters, the booming call of bitterns in spring, beautiful bugs and colourful wild flowers in summer. Minsmere was the location for the BBC Spring Watch series in 2014, 2015 & 2016. There are plenty of country pubs in the area to visit if you enjoy eating out. Forest walks are close by in the forests of Tunstall, Rendlesham and Dunwich.

Rural retreat
Most enjoyable stay in a very comfortable and quirky rural property. The stairs up to the accommodation would be a bit challenging for the less able and the shower takes a bit of working out but overall the apartment is great for a break in lovely countryside.

Our Owls Nest Holiday
We had a lovely relaxing stay at Owls Nest near Charsfield . The accommodation had everything we needed with lots of extra touches and attention to detail. The converted barn was comfortable and spotlessly clean. The idyllic rural location suited us just fine and the areas we wanted to visit were within east driving distance. Would definitely revisit.

Owl’s Nest - the perfect get away.
Owl’s Nest is a charming and comfortable property in a renovated barn, suitable for two adults with a car. It is accessed up a flight of wooden steps so is only suitable for those with good mobility. It is comfortably furnished with lovely first floor views of the surrounding countryside, and has plenty of character created by the sloping ceilings and large triangular picture window. The owners, who live in the farmhouse next door, are friendly and discrete, but very helpful when consulted. The surrounding countryside is quiet and peaceful, with easy road access to nearby Wickham Market, and the Suffolk coast. For those seeking a restful rural holiday in beautiful Suffolk countryside, Owl’s Nest is a perfect location.

It was a quirky property in the middle of the beautiful Suffolk countryside. It was well equipped and spacious. The angled ceilings took some getting use to and we bumped our heads more than once. The shower was particularly tricky for my 6 ft husband but having a bath too was nice. We struggled a bit to see the TV and couldn't really get on with the oven but overall I would recommend it as a lovely place for some peace and quiet and long walks.

A beautiful apartment.
We stayed in Owls Nest for a short break before our daughter's wedding at a nearby venue. The farm is in a beautiful, peaceful location and the apartment was clean, comfortable and well-maintained. Communications with the helpful owners was excellent. We would like to return at a later date and stay for a longer period to visit the many attractions in the area.

Fabulous countryside retreat
We had a wonderful long weekend exploring Suffolk from this beautiful, quiet, rural retreat. It's perfectly located for peace and quiet whilst being close enough to get out and about to nearby towns and villages. The only thing that I would ask the owner to think about was the living room sofa which wasn't comfortable enough for a full winter's evening of sitting in. Otherwise, very clean and welcoming and have already recommend others to stay.
