The property is very run-down and outdated, not as advertised. The rooms are old and musty, and the AC is so loud that it’s impossible to sleep. While the location is great, the place itself is damp and uncomfortable. Disappointed!!

Our room at the Griffin Hotel Gold Building was so much more than we expected. From the previous reviews we expected the room to be horrible but it was so much more than that. It was beautiful and roomy . We had a dog and our room had a patio which was perfect for walks. The hotel is in the perfect spot to the Williamsburg Village of Colonial homes. You are in walking distance of shops and restaurants . We had breakfast at the Williamsburg Inn and it was really good. Expensive but the service was impeccable, top notch waiters and so very worth the price!!

Nice old hotel.
Grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The furniture and carpeting is worn and outdated. The bedding is clean, beds are comfortable. The bathroom had quite a bit of mold, and I scrubbed it. Rooms are spacious and good for families.

The past part about the hotel was that it was close to the Williamsburg Inn, allowing us to escape from the Griffin Hotel. The grounds surrounding the hotel were not well maintained. The room had a musty smell and the large opening to the patio was filthy. The bathroom required proper cleaning and the rooms needed to be repainted. Paint was coming off the walls. The water pressure in the shower was extremely deficient and the stopper in the bath tub was not working in that it would close when you did not want it to - thereby resulting in standing water.

Large room in a beautiful setting
The room was large and comfortable for our family of four. I wish it had had a microwave, and there were some areas in need of updating. But the bed, shower, and furniture were all comfortable. The patio was lovely.
