Fun trip
The owner and property manager were very responsive and helpful. The house is just as shown. Very secluded part of the island so you definitely need to rent a car if staying here. Beautiful property and gracious hosts.

Perfect getaway
Elysian cottage helped make our first trip to the Exumas truly magical. Richard's communication and help with renting a van made for a smooth week. The house is about 35 minutes from Georgetown but we ended up really loving being away from it all. The views are breathtaking from the house and we really enjoyed Tropic of Cancer beach just a few minutes away.

This was a our second time coming to Exuma. The first time we stayed in the northern area and this time in the southern area. 4 adults and 4 teens. From day one Richard was very helpful once we booked the home. Getting back to all of our questions right away. As soon as we got through customs we got our car and found the property without any issue. Once we got to the property we were very happy that it was exactly as described. Very private and amazing views. The house was stocked with most of what we needed and anything else we were able to pick up at Exuma market. We took the 2 kayaks from the property and did some exploring in the area. Again very private and some super fun snorkeling just right off the property. We enjoyed the southern beaches in the area, Molly, Forbes, and Tropic of Cancer within 5 min. Also can checkout Santanas food and Moms bakery just down the road. We could have stayed another month once we got the lay of the land and into a routine. I would not hesitate to stay at the Elysian cottage again. Thank you!

Best Family Trip!
We LOVED our stay in Little Exuma and Elysian Cottage was truly a slice of paradise. It is beautifully secluded & peaceful with an amazing view! We all enjoyed the kayaks and exploring up and down the shore without ever running into anyone. Our 13 year old son enjoyed the freedom of grabbing his rod and heading down the shore to fish for hours. He caught needlefish, barracuda, mutton snapper, yellowtail snapper & triggerfish from the rocks to the northwest of the house. Our 15 year old daughter loved exploring the beach for shells & endless lounging on the deck. The cottage is comfortably furnished & had everything we needed for cooking in which is worth doing because the stars at night are incredible. We visited Tropic of Cancer beach several times & it is uncrowded and jaw dropping beautiful. The beach hut there served great burgers & drinks, runs on island time & may not always be open so call ahead or bring your own snacks. We rented a boat from Minn's for a couple of days for more fishing & going to Chat & Chill at Stocking Island for lunch & feeding the stingrays. We also took a 1/2 day tour with Captain Smiley to see the swimming pigs. The trip included feeding the rock iguanas, seeing the blowholes, snorkeling in a bluehole, a short hike with amazing views, and of course, swimming with the pigs. We thought it might be too touristy for us, but ended up loving the remote cays, the beautiful views & the unique animal experiences. We ate at Santanna's & Big D's & an unnamed hut at Fish Fry where we watched the fisherman/diver/chef clean & prepare the most delicious conch salad. We also enjoyed multiple loaves of banana bread from Mom's bakery. Our family had an amazing time! Thank you Richard for sharing your piece of paradise -- it was a wonderful adventure!

Wonderful, Secluded Home
We enjoyed our stay at the Elysian Cottage immensely! The property is immaculately clean, and the owner is helpful and responsive. The check in process was easy, we met the property manager at the airport and rented a car from them at the same time. The house is set up perfectly for 2 families with kids and the kitchen is well stocked with a gas grill. It is very secluded, about 30 min to Georgetown and 45 min to the airport, but we were looking for that experience. Tropic of Cancer Beach is a 5 min drive away and Santana's is just down the street. The bugs can be bad when the wind isn't blowing, so bring your bug spray. That was the only real drawback of the property, we got chased off the gorgeous patio by the bugs a few times. We loved Exuma and will be back for sure!

Highly recommended !
We were a family of 5 with three teens and they loved it! Excellent communication with the owner from setting up groceries to the car and anything in between for questions. If you are looking for a remote type but close to sightseeing this place is perfect. We had the rocky beach as a backyard to dig for shells, look for little sea creatures, enjoy the expansive patio and views, sunbathe and kayak. And only 5 min away drove to the other side of the house to Tropic of Cancer Beach that had shaded areas to hang out . We didn't need to explore any other beach bc it was so close, had a nice food / drink stand and a good stretch of beach, not too busy and very clean . The beds were comfortable and smart layout to allow each to have their space and to come together . We cooked most meals in the house . But it's also close by to some of the best restaurants that we would definitely go to again like Blu , Santanna's. The nearby moriah Cay was also beautiful . The house had everything we needed. All the amenities that a family would need is available with ample space . The utilities were reliable with no issues w/electricity, water, wifi. After driving through the island this spot is the most pristine and truly felt like you were in your own paradise . We really found a hidden gem in this place and captured many wonderful memories with our teens.

Your own private waterfront island
How have I not visited Exuma before? From the moment we landed and saw the unbelievable teal blue water we knew we were in for a treat. This quiet island is incredible. Everyone is happy and friendly. Richard's property was what made our trip. Every detail has been thought of. It is a 30 minute drive to Little Exuma, but trust me it is worth it. When you arrive you will feel like you are the only one on a private waterfront island. The large sliding doors frame the incredible ocean view taking you out to a deck where there was always a nice breeze. The best part about it is there is no one to either side of you. There is a large kitchen and BBQ grill that we used every night. The three air conditioned bedrooms are large and were perfect for our whole family. What are you waiting for? You will not regret it. We will definitely be back.

Exuma is awesome and this house is a wonderful way to experience it.
The house was just right. The view is beautiful and it was close to our favorite beach, Tropic of Cancer. The bugs were only out one night during our stay. It was quite a drive to all activities, 30 minutes to Georgetown and over an hour to the other end of the island, but we also loved the seclusion. Richard was very helpful and the Bahamian people are super kind! Loved it!!

Elysian Cottage
According to Homer, Elysian Fields refers to a beautiful meadow in the Underworld where the favored of Zeus enjoy perfect happiness. Elysian cottage is appropriately named as it brought me and my family “perfect happiness”. I want to start by thanking the property manager for all the help. Richard was fantastic. He answered all of my questions and helped arrange a rental car to pick us up at the airport. He also arranged for groceries to be delivery to the house before our arrival. They even put everything in the fridge and cabinets. This house is located about 30 minutes from Georgetown. It is so peaceful and quiet. I woke up every morning just before sun rise and enjoyed my coffee on the patio listening to the waves, wind and birds. The views were also fantastic. There are a few small restaurants and convenience stores close by where you can pickup drinks and ice and other small items. Or just drive into Georgetown. The locals were so friendly and helpful. During our stay there was a lot of road construction going on around the island. As a result the roads are very rough in places. Make sure to get an SUV. This will make your trip much better. The beach house itself is very nice. We loved the sliding doors and open floor plan. Access to the water is fairly easy. Lots of rocks just go slow. Our friends were staying in the house down the way and the teenagers had a blast riding the kayaks back and forth. The property did have a few minor maintenance issues that I noticed and reported back to the property owner. None of these issues diminished the quality of our stay. These were just things that I, as a home owner, would want to know about. My wife said to be sure the clothes dryer filter is cleaned out for every load. Otherwise your clothes will take forever to dry. Overall this was money well spent. We would definitely consider staying at this property again and recommend it to others. —samd

Our stay here was AWESOME!!! We loved it!!! Only backlash was distance from what they call “town!” 🤣😂🤣 House was perfect and the view was priceless!!! I would recommend watershoes for the beach area... the layout of the house was amazing and the wording of “rain water” for usage... we didn’t even know we weren’t on city water.... can’t wait to return to this house however, my friend says I am no longer aloowed to drive... 😂🤣. Apparently my skills of driving on the other side of the road isn’t that good.... 😂🤣😂

Overwhelmed and underwhelmed
While we absolutely love the house, the view is spectacular, the architecture wonderful, communication with Richard excellent so a ten in those respects we did have issues. Here is the list: the dryer was so full of lint it is a fire hazard. Dryer still doesn’t dry good even after we cleaned most of it out, the grill is not useable as it’s rusty and peeling. The bunk room shower has almost no water pressure. The valves were off but assumably because if they are on it leaks. Lots of pressure issues and flipping from hot to cold. The master bathroom right side sink has no water pressure either but the shower and right sink work great. Not having umbrellas was a problem to say the least and not have additional 2 normal beach chairs was not good as well. Really need one normal beach chair per person. At over sixty those low chairs just don’t work. While we did swim a few times there is definitely no beach at any time of day. All rocks. Very tough to get the kayak in the water although us girls managed to take one down and had a great time. Thr area of Little Exuma is a must: Tropic of Cancer awesome beach as was Pretty Molly Bay. Favorite restaurant was Tropic Breezes. We rented a boat with Minns water sports and car thru Thompson’s both great. Exuma waters are most amazing. The roads/infrastructure need help. Most people fabulous and overall an amazing vacation.

We had a great stay on Exuma!
This was our first trip to the Exumas and what a fantastic vacation this was! Richard was really easy to work with - he answered all our random questions leading up to the trip very quickly and a few while we were there as well! The house was clean and well equipped for our needs for the week! Our kids enjoyed exploring the area of rocks in front of the ocean and walking down to the beach areas. It was very private and peaceful! We loved waking up each morning and watching the sunrise from the patio. Everything was as described in the listing. We do not have much more to add to all of the reviews and the recommendations from the previous visitors, so please read the other reviews as well. We loved our experience and hope to be able to do it again some day!

Exuma-Did Not Disappoint!!!
This was our first trip to the Exumas and it did not disappoint! The house and the views are incredible! The house was spacious for the 4 of us and could easily accommodate two families! We took the kayaks out the first day for the entire day! Use of the provided snorkeling gear was great as we used it every day! The bugs were not an issue, however we did have the wind to help! Richard was attentive and answered all emails quickly. He made great recommendations and the boating excursion , Roberts Island Adventures is a must do and highlight of the trip! We loved it! We spent several evenings going to Tropic of Cancer Beach to watch the sunset! It’s very close, a 5 minute car ride. We recommend renting a car and Richard assisted with that as well. The only recommendation to stock up day 1 on toilet paper, paper towels and water. The house uses rainwater to supply water. The roads are bumpy and it does take time to get to the main grocery store , 30 minutes each way . A fantastic and unforgettable trip for us and we are looking forward to returning!

Perfect get away!!
The pictures don’t do it justice. The views are amazing and the cottage is well appointed. The owner has thought of everything to make sure your stay here is stress free. Richard offered several recommendations and we took them all. From the Berlie’s SUV rental to Roberts Island Adventures Eco and Cays tours to Prime Island Meats it was all fantastic!! Eat at Santana’s and Moms bakery (Rum and Marble Cakes + Banana Bread), visit the Tropic of Cancer beach often, its right across the street!! Best beach on the island. The bugs are real! Use the provided baby oil, it works!! Watch the night sky with the telescope, it’s unbelievable! Play the provided board games and watch Netflix at night. It’s the perfect family get away!! We can’t wait to come back! PS also recommend Island Boy Cafe, Driftwood Cafe, renting a boat from Minn’s and Chat and Chill (often) on Stocking Island. Remember, this is island time and you’re on vacation... so be patient.

This was hands down the best family vacation we have ever been on. Exuma is like another world. The home was just as pictured and the view was even better! Any questions we had were promptly answered. Absolutely recommend renting an SUV. And baby oil really does work with the sand fleas! The kids had a blast snorkeling right in front of the house and the kayaks were great too. The most beautiful beach, Tropic of Cancer is just a few minutes away. We loved how secluded we were, literally no one else around. We would definitely come back!
