Nestled in the heart of Wick, The Clachan invites you to experience the charm of Caithness – where rugged coastlines, rich heritage, and Highland hospitality come together to showcase some of the best of Scotland.
Located at the top of the North Coast 500 route, Wick is the perfect base to explore the beauty of Scotland's northernmost landscapes. The town’s harbour heritage and seaside charm offer a unique blend of history and tranquillity, making it an ideal destination for both adventure seekers and those looking to unwind.
A short drive from The Clachan lies the dramatic Castle of Old Wick perched on the cliffs, offering breathtaking views over the North Sea. Further along the coast, the Whaligoe Steps – a hidden gem of 365 stone steps leading to a historic harbour – provides a glimpse into the area’s fishing past and is a must-visit for those who enjoy a scenic walk.
For whisky enthusiasts, the world-renowned Old Pulteney Distillery is just a stone's throw away. Take a tour and sample the distinctive maritime flavours of one of Scotland's finest single malts, crafted in Wick since 1826.
The Clachan’s prime location means you’re within walking distance of local shops, cafés, and restaurants. Whether you're browsing for locally crafted goods or indulging in traditional Highland cuisine, Wick’s friendly community will give you a warm welcome.
Nature lovers can explore the nearby Sinclair and Girnigoe Castles, wildlife-rich coastal trails, and pristine beaches that make Caithness such a captivating destination.
