Welcome to Wesser Creek Village at The Hive Lodge! Our large family retreat property consists of two cabins; The Hive Lodge and The Historic Ol Gun Range Cabin. There are a total of 12 queen beds, 1 king bed, and 2 twin beds between the two cabins. The property has many amenities and plenty of privacy in the Smoky Mountains. Located between Cherokee and Bryson City North Carolina and central to all activities near Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Nantahala Gorge, Great Smoky Mountain Railroad, Cherokee Indian Reservation, and more. This area is abundant with outdoor activities such as hiking, world class fishing and rafting, small town vibes and a ton of family fun!
The Hive Lodge is our very unique 7,000 square foot family lodge originally built to be a school house and now serves as an excellent place to host larger families while visiting the Smokies! You will most certainly find our rustic farmhouse style lodging peaceful and relaxing! As you begin the 3 mile drive from Smoky Mountain Country Club, and "civilization", up the winding gravel mountain road you can let all of your cares disappear.
The Hive features an upper level and a lower level that is connected by a covered staircase on the side of the building. The upper level boasts 5 bedrooms and 3.5 baths, a large sitting room with floor to ceiling glass overlooking our pond and the Great Smoky Mountains! Each bedroom has a local theme of some of our favorite places. All of the artwork and decor are made by us giving this a one-of-a-kind feel. No cookie cutter stuff here! There is also a 900 square foot game room on the upper level that features a ping pong table, card table, and darts. There is also an additional refrigerator to allow a little extra storage for our larger groups. You will find the screened in porch on the upper level peaceful, relaxing and a favorite for those seeking to relax and unwind with the ambient sounds of the creek.
The lower level features a large great room complete with a 70" SmartTV, multiple sofas and lounge chairs, kitchen, dining room seating for up to 16, pool table, 3 bedrooms, and 3 bathrooms. Two outs of the three bedrooms are large and feature multiple queen beds as well as a crib in The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad bedroom.
There is also a very large covered deck off the lower level entry door as well as a charcoal grill and fire pit area with permanent wood benches. It's perfect for chilly nights roasting marshmallows. You will love the outdoor space here. We have multiple hammocks and spaces to relay in nature with the ambient sounds of small creeks surrounding the cabin.
The Historic Ol Gun Range Cabin | Our 3 bedroom 2 bath unique cabin on property is also full of rich history. Formerly a shooting range and training facility; this one-of-a-kind mountain cabin is cozy, secluded, and only 100 yards up the driveway from the Hive Lodge. Most guests never even know the cabin is there when there is foliage on the trees.
The Ol Gun Range Cabin features 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths. The upper level features a fully functional kitchen, a cozy authentic mountain great room with beautiful tongue and groove wall and ceilings, one full bathroom, 55" TV with satellite connected, and a bedroom with a queen sized bed. The lower level features a beautiful large rustic stone floor at the entryway, a large bedroom with a king size bed, and a bedroom and bathroom ensuite with a queen size bed. There is also a laundry room that was formerly the ammunitions room. You will love the peace, serenity, and unique history that this property provides. The outside areas may be just as great. Our courtyard style walkways, formerly used for target practice, provide a great place to be outdoors. There is also a large covered deck overlooking the courtyard and fire pit area. There is a hot tub, charcoal grill, picnic table, fire pit area, and hammocks! This is a place you will tell everyone about!
* Large Family Space(Unlike many cabin rentals we do not overcrowd our spaces. We host our own families here and have thoughtfully laid out the interior for larger group sizes. You and your family will have plenty of space to spread out and even disappear to a quiet place on the property when needed).

* The Decor(My wife and I make all of the art, photography, and many of the furniture pieces ourselves. We want everything to be local, crafty, and add to our simple and relaxing goals for the cabin. We love the Smoky Mountains and we want to share that with all of our guests)!
* Seclusion(1.5 miles up a gravel road gets you a very secluded escape from normal life! After all, isn't that the point? The peaceful streams on both sides provide a nice ambient background noise on the porch or decks as well).
* Handicap Accessible at The Hive - although there are no ADA approved handrails we are accessibility friendly. We have a level, wheelchair accessible entrance on each level. There is also a stand up shower on each level for those with mobility issues. The doorways on the lower level are very wide and the space is great for those in wheelchairs!
