Walhalla History...

Walhalla was originally an Indian Village, located near Long Lake in the heart of the Manistee National Forest, approximately 17 miles east of the town of Ludington. This area is a nature lover's dream. The National Forest, Pere Marquette River and nearby beaches of Lake Michigan combine to offer unlimited recreational possibilities. The Manistee National Forest offers thousands of acres of land for hiking, snowmobiling, hunting, dirt biking and ATV trails. It is the only national forest with an ATV trail system in western Lower Michigan, and connects with an additional 180 miles of "off road vehicle" trails east of Highway 37. Over thirty lakes and three rivers in the area offer salmon, steelhead, rainbow and brown trout fishing. Ludington State Park is located just a short drive from Walhalla and is called "Queen of Michigan's Parks." It features sand dunes and virgin forests, miles of sandy beach, 14 miles of hiking and biking trails and three campgrounds. Fishing charters are also available in Ludington, as well as canoe and kayak rentals, watercraft and boat rentals - even dune buggy rides. Other points of interest include the Big Sable Point Lighthouse and Historic White Pine Village, which is a collection of 21 buildings that depict small-town life in Michigan during the late 1800s and beyond. Walhalla Village is a great place to escape city life and "get away from it all"

Met expectations
Overall, the place was great! We didn't quite like that it was so close to a busy main road(too much traffic noise), but Dollar General and a local restaurant were just a walk away. It was definitely better than staying at a hotel for what was on our itinerary.

Nice cabin
This cabin was a nice place for us to have a ling weekend away for a fishing trip. Great value. The reviews say you need to bring linens and towels but they were available. Listing pictures shows a chest freezer (big reason why I chose this cabin) but it wasn’t there. This ended up not being an issue since the fish didn’t cooperate. Overall, a very good experience. Would stay there again.

Great weekend getaway
Our experience at Jeff's cabin was better than expected. The cabin was in close proximity to Ludington State Park where we spent a lot of time. The kitchen is fully equipped for those interested in preparing a meal. The bathroom is a medium to small size. It just needs a bath rug so guests don't slip and some extra towel hangers. The two bedrooms are a good size (on the small side). I would suggest some coat hooks and a curtain or shade for one bedroom since the morning sun starts caressing your eyes way too early. The lighting system in the cabin is weak, therefore reading a book would be challenging. The place was pretty clean, but the toilet especially needed extra attention. Since guests have to clean the cabin before leaving, you can find all the disinfectants and cleaning products in a cabinet. Jeff should upgrade the photos since they don't reflect with accuracy the nice layout of the cabin. Overall, we had a fun weekend exploring the surroundings.

Much Needed Stay.
I got divorced 4 years ago, and we haven't done a family vacation since before that! This was a special event! Soooo thankful for finding this perfect little hideaway! It was absolutely adorable and quaint, and it was perfect for our much needed vacation. Property owners were informative, concise, and pleasant to correspond with! We will definitely be back! ❤️🖤

Wonderful Rustic Cabin
My family stayed here over the 4th of July and enjoyed our stay at the cabin. Having an in house wqsher and dryer was nice to have. The beds were comfortable. Appliances were in great condition. We mostly used this to sleep as we visited family in the area, but we'd absolutely stay here again.

Would not recommend
You need to bring your own sheets and toilet paper. We knew about bringing our own sheets based on reading the reviews because this info was not listed in the listing. What we did not know until we received the check-in email is that we also needed to bring our own toilet paper and paper towels. This info was also not listed in the description. This is insane! Also, you’re required to clean the cabin before you leave, but this was listed in the description so we knew about this before making the reservation. The cabin is located in the woods in the country. My wife would not go outside at night alone because it is mildly creepy. Just my opinion, but would not recommend to a friend.

Cozy home in the woods
Our family was in the area for a short weekend trip and this was the perfect spot to stay. Comfortable amenities, easy access, and very convenient location for us. You do have to bring your own towels, sheets, and paper products (unless there are leftovers from prior guests) but that wasn’t a big deal since we knew ahead of time and came prepared.

FYI!! No, Towels, Bed Linens, Pillow cases
It would be helpful for the owner to list the policy of guests providing their own linens in the property description. Jeff did indicate this when we got our Key info the day we were headed up to the cabin. While this may not be a problem for some, We have a King size bed & had to buy bedding for a Queen on the way up. We would have been happy to put the sheet's in the washer before we left. Not finding out until after booking/paying that we had to provide our own sheets and towels was an extra expense at our end. I'm just saying Hotels provide these item's & we've never stayed at a Rental house that didn't, but overall it was clean & a nice cabin.

Really nice property that I plan to use again
I stay at 4-5 VRBO properties annually and this has been by far my favorite. Exceptionally well maintained, comfortable beds, and comfortable accommodations. They only suggestion I would make would be for the owner to list the policy of guests providing their own linens in the property description. While this may not pose a problem for most, I happened to already be on vacation and rented this property to extend my stay. Not finding out until after booking that I had to provide my own sheets and towels meant that I had to go purchase sheets for bed sizes I do not own at home

Horrible Experience
I reserved the property a month in advance of a fishing trip to the area. I had people fly in from Florida for this trip. I had a confirmation of the reservation. When I showed up at the property I had to message the owner since I had not received the instructions to get into the house. I was then informed by the owner that VRBO should not have allowed me to rent the home because he already had it booked. I am still waiting on my full refund. I would not waste time renting this property, the entire expeirience was very poorly handled and neither the property owner or the VRBO team were of any assistance. All I was told was to cancel the reservation and they would take 15 days to return my FULL PAYMENT. Horrible customer service all the way around.

Has everything you need!
We had everything we needed as a family of five with a dog. Our son is disabled and has a special diet, so a vrbo with a kitchen, bath, and laundry is the way to go. Plenty of room, good location, fun games. Thanks so much.
