The “English Writer’s Cottage,” earned its name for its English Cotswolds meets Santa Barbara bungalow aesthetic, & sits perfectly situated in the historical and picturesque Austin Ave/ Castle Heights neighborhood, just 3-5 min from Baylor & Downtown Waco. Don’t miss this special house!
When you walk in, you are greeted with 12 foot coffered ceilings and cozy rooms for all your guests. Wonderful touches abound where modern meets old world. Jill Mashburn Barrett, creator of the world famous Common Grounds coffee shop by Baylor University, and The Falcon +Owl vintage home goods & interior design studio, has added her special touch of keeping true to the homes vintage, bungalow roots, while weaving in modern design features to make your stay truly enjoyable.

The perfect place to stay in Waco! I’m actually from Waco and had some friends stay here and I cannot tell you enough about how perfect the location is for this cottage. A very beautiful, quiet walkable neighborhood in historic Castle heights, two blocks from one of Waco’s yummiest restaurants (Harvest on 25th along with many others) and cute shops and just 5 minutes from downtown and all things Magnolia and Baylor! The hosts are absolutely incredible and the home that they have designed for your rest is truly that… a home that is quaint, cozy and restful ensuring your stay is nothing short of exceptional! Kitchen is fully stocked beds are super comfy and parking is plentiful! Would be the perfect place to have a small family gathering or a girls weekend away as it has plenty of places to gather and catch up and it photographs beautifully too! Can’t say enough good things about Josh and Jill and the impeccable attention to detail and care they take of this home! You won’t be disappointed!

This house is an ideal choice for a girls' weekend or for 2-3 couples to share, especially if in either case you plan to spend lots of time in the kitchen. The home's decor is cozy but more beautiful and interesting than what you'll find in the best hotel. The beds are super comfy. The rooms are larger and more spacious than I realized from the online photos. Oh and from here, you can walk to several cute shops and restaurants plus Pinewood Coffee.

By far my favorite VRBO home. The hosts were welcoming, helpful, and thoughtfully designed this home. It is as beautiful, comfortable, and stocked with everything you need. The location is in a quiet neighborhood a few minutes away from great restaurants and shopping. We hope to come back again.

Great house - much bigger than anticipating. Amazingly decorated and stocked. Centrally located to easy to get to anywhere in town. The hosts were amazing - easy to communicate with and provided great suggestions for restaurants and things to do.

The host was wonderful to work with. Very responsive. The location was easy to access. The property was in good condition. It is an older property, but it appears to be well-maintained. The reason for a 4-star rating instead of a 5-star is that the property had way too many eclectic items, which were everywhere; it felt crowded that way. For adults, it is ok. We can manage, but if children were involved, I would be constantly worried about things getting touched or broken.
