Old place, very dusty, our friend’s backpack was stolen as our luggage was being carried up the stairs. Breakfast was adequate. Noisy outside. Great view from our patio.

In order to get into the hotel we had to go up many steep steps from the street. Had we known, we would not have booked a room there. The streets were narrow and very steep so the location was not a good choice for us (we are in our 70's). The gentleman who checked us in was very gracious when we indicated that we needed to move to a different hotel. He arranged for us to get transportation and helped the driver with our luggage. Of course, we covered the cost of the room.

This was a lovely property and the view from our room was great. We had a small deck which overlooked the street and the harbour beyond - it was so wonderful to enjoy the fresh air.
The hotel staff were very accommodating and helpful and the bed was very comfortable, lots of nearby restaurants within walking distance - a lovely stay in a charming hill top setting1
A stunning property with real charm. Fabulous room. A perfect stay. Would definitely recommend and stay again. Our hotel manager was warm, friendly, helpful and accommodating when our flight was cancelled. The one who replaced him on his day off was a bit grumpy though!
Our stay at the Somercales Hotel was comfortable and it is located in the most beautiful neighbourhood of Valparaiso. Also, they serve a great breakfast each morning. But what we loved the best is the staff. The people that work at this hotel are so kind and warm. They really make you feel at home and do everything possible to make your stay enjoyable!

Pleasant stay
Good location within the old town. We arrived early and the host was very accommodating to allow us early check-in. Rooms and bathrooms were simple and clean but could do with a refresh
The Thomas Somerscales is a charming boutique hotel, The location is very convenient for sightseeing and walking to wonderful restaurants. The outside porch areas were so welcoming to sit with a Pisco sour and relax after a day of walking! We felt like we were invited into a historic home. Hector at the front desk was so pleasant and helpful, always greeted us with a smile. The breakfast was a lovely , fresh fruit, fresh juice, cold meats and pastries, served in a vintage dining room. Our stay there was fantastic and would highly recommend this hotel!

Nice hotel in a good location. Breakfast was good and the their pool is heated to almost hot tub temperatures. A little dated in terms of hallway carpeting but it had great views and room were perfect for all our needs.
Very interesting boutique with the old British style. It is fun to hear the wood singing with someone walking on it. The room is clean and bed is comfortable.
The terrace is a perfect area to see fireworks and sunrise (if there is no cloud).
Breakfast is well prepared in the dining room every morning.
Location is good as well, right in the historic center.
I would like to stay here again if I come back.
We stayed one night at Thomas Somerscales, and wish it could have been more! The staff were so happy and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable, and breakfast was lovely. The location was great too for restaurants and local sights. Highly recommend a stay at this boutique hotel.
We stayed in Valparaiso for one night during a recent trip to Chile and loved staying at this hotel! It was an old mansion that belonged to an English artist, and you could feel the warm spirit of those old days coming through. The staff was very nice and welcoming and the breakfast was delicious. The hotel is situated in an excellent area very close to great restaurants and cafes, and had pretty views from the windows. We would love to stay at this hotel should we ever return to the area!
