Situated in a quieter part of the Lake District with easy access to the south and western Lakes and Solway Coast, this cottage is an ideal family holiday cottage at any time of year with a garden for relaxing in on sunny days and a cosy open fire for winter evenings.
The picturesque village of Great Urswick is awash with history from the hill fort to the ancient village church. The village tarn provides the perfect place for lazy days spent picnicking or fishing. Walks over Birkrigg common are accessible from the village and will reward you with panoramic views over the Furness Peninsula, Morecombe Bay and the fells of the nearby Lake District. Just three miles from the village is the traditional market town of Ulverston, famed for its diverse range of festivals throughout the year. The pretty cobbled streets are littered with specialist shops, cosy pubs, traditional markets and cultured hotspots. South Lakes Wild Animal Park is only a short drive from Oronsay, here you can hand feed giraffes and walk amongst wallabies, kangaroos and lemurs.
Oronsay has been delightfully refurbished, blending modern design with the irreplaceable charm of old exposed beams, pretty latched doors and traditional fireplaces. Cosy nights can be spent dining in front of the open fire or in the warmer months enjoy a glass of wine alfresco in the quaint garden.
