Sprawling with Wrap-Around Porch, Private Beach Access by Tybee Cottages

Follow the gravel path to this four-bedroom cottage, complete with a screened-in, wrap-around porch and private access to the beach. Days spent here involve porch swings, washing sand from your toes, and sharing the sunset with loved ones. Walk up to the porch and step back in time as you enter into your very own charming Tybee cottage. You'll notice the jade green trim throughout the house, along with a well-loved collection of beach decor and family heirlooms. For those looking for a place to truly relax and reconnect with loved ones, 1923 By The Sea is for you.

The kitchen has kept some of its most charming features from the original design, but incorporates modern amenities to make your vacation a breeze. Past the kitchen rests the formal dining area with seating for six. Adjacent, the living room with plenty of places to sit and carry conversation with your group. A flat screen TV and shelves full of books are both perfect remedies for a rainy afternoon.

All four bedrooms occupy the rest of the home, with full bath with tub/shower combo on the first level. However, each bedroom comes with an original wash sink, which makes getting ready much more convenient. The first bedroom hosts a Queen size bed, outfitted with two large dressers and relaxing views of the front porch. Window shades allow for privacy from the outside. The second bedroom is across the hall and holds a pair of Double size beds, while the remaining two bedrooms are each furnished with a pair of twin beds. Tall ceilings and a ceiling fan can be expected in each bedroom, along with ample room to unpack your suitcase and feel right at home. On the ground level, two shower rooms, in addition to another bathroom - plenty of space for everyone in the group! A washer and dryer can also be found on the ground level. Access to the wrap-around porch can be found off the dining room and the front entry. Spend each evening with a glass of wine as the screens protect you from the elements. A private path (open to neighboring homes but not the public) to the beach begins towards the back of the home.

Nice short stay
Had a lovely time. No instructions on how to enter home upon arrival. Called mgmt co. At 5:30 pm and they gave me access code. Small palm tree partially blocking driveway near street entrance. Home is well used but worked for us. Had a nice time. Not a deluxe type home, it’s a large beach cottage.

Tranquil Big Character House on Main Strip of Tybee
The porch is everything at this beautiful historic house. Even in gale force winds and pouring rain this porch was an incredibly peaceful refuge for our vacation. Note that if you rent a golf cart, you will have to park and walk from public parking because golf carts aren’t allowed on this part of Butler. House had everything we needed on this rainy cold Memorial Day. Even when internet went out, we played “haunted” hide and seek in this creaky house. Lots of beds - the one bathroom would really get a lots of competition if as many people as all the beds hold stayed here. Note that there is strong sulfur “Florida water” smell with the hot tap water. Just added to the fun-haunty-old-house vibe. Tons of fun!

Beautiful home but
Sometimes when you call something “vintage” or “antique” toooo long, it really means “old” or “broken” or “needs to really be fixed”. Home is BEAUTIFUL but doors don’t shut. Knobs fall off. Floors about to break in some places. You can see thru the floor in some places. No closets at all. Smelly nasty sink in each room. Washer and dryer junk.

Family Time with my Soldiers!
We came to Tybee Island to spend time with my US Army Soldier who is stationed at Ft Stewart. We just picked up my other son who just graduated US Army basic combat training and brought him over to see his brother before he gets deployed. It was a wonderful weekend! We had a few other soldiers from my son's unit come to spend time with us as well. I loved getting to know the guys who will be protecting my boy in the field!

Missing Details from property description and DANGER
At first it is a cute house. However, no where does the description say that the house has sulfur water. When turning on the water, the smell permeated the house making it stink. Then there was a note that said to use the door by the bathroom to go downstairs to find the path to the beach. That door was locked and had a note stating it was for owner access. So we followed the path from underneath the house to the beach only after going through the dunes where the path led, was there a sign that says "Keep out of dune area. WARNING: Venomous snake nesting area". This was totally dangerous, especially with two small children with us. This is not what I expected from the VRBO site.

Quaint Beach Stay
Nice property. Quiet. Secluded. Walk to beach and restaurants. Beautiful large porch. Old house with some "critters". No modern amenities, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Walk to beach is a workout. We would come back.

Beautiful Old Georgia Cottage
The house has so much character! Loved the privacy of the lot. The wrap around porch was certainly a highlight and we spent a lot of time there. Some thoughts though: the beach is NOT the easiest to get to, especially for older folks. There is a lot of zig-zagging and walking directly over dunes. The beach equipment that is there was NOT provided by the owner. They are merely there from old guests and many of them are broken, including the only two umbrellas that were down there. We ended up having to do the same, and buy and leave an umbrella. I would certainly invest in 4-5 good chairs and at least 2 umbrellas. The beds certainly need some updating. Some are good, but others, you move 2 inches and almost roll off. Some small updates could make this stay even better. But we did enjoy our time, and absolutely loved the porch.

We loved this adorable 1920s cottage and the beach access was great!! It was close enough to walk to restaurants and stores but not in the crowded section of Tybee or the beach.

Beautiful, old, historic home. Electric dated and few outlets but property management addressed it promptly. Extra sinks, outdoor showers and extra bathroom were nice to have with 10 people staying.

Classic beach cottage
There were a lot of great things about this property. The location and privacy were fantastic and just as described. Plenty of parking and a quick walk to the beach. The large circle driveway was great for riding bikes, and the huge porch was nice. Unfortunately we had a few negatives about the property, and I think the property just needs a little attention. We were in touch with Lucky Savannah and they addressed the issues quickly. I do think however the property needs just some overall maintenance for it to be great. I know it is an old property and is what we loved about it, but it was not very clean. The kitchen could use a really good cleaning and stock a few more useful items like a wine bottle opener. The mattresses are terribly uncomfortable, and some where super bouncy. Most of the lighting did not work correctly and there were few plugs (understandable for the age of the property), but if you have lamps in a room please make sure they can be used. The door knobs are all pretty tricky to get to latch and open because of age, but it is a safety issue that some of the doors leading to the exterior on only a latch hook to lock it. Overall, a little maintenance and a good cleaning and this is a great property!
