At the top of the hill, past giant saguaros, open the gate and drive up to a small cabin on five boulder-strewn fascinating acres on one of the highest points in the city of Twentynine Palms, with huge views to the north, west, and east. Sit out at the firepit and enjoy the stars, take the mile-long trail through the property, or check out the wildlife at the pond. Inside, unwind in a cozy studio (320 sq ft), with a really comfortable queen bed, linen sheets, and the amenities you want: smart TV you can watch from bed, complete kitchenette with drip coffee maker (coffee and decaf supplied), and a full bath. Ten-minute drive to the park entrance, and three minutes to groceries. It's perfect for a shorter visit of up to a week, or if you're on a road trip passing through. At night, the stars are spectacular. This is our house, and we're local, so if you need anything -- advice, help, etc. -- we're here to help.
A larger house is also on the property, but you have a separate gate, a separate driveway, and the cabin is (check the reviews) very private. This is our property that we manage ourselves, and we are local if you need anything.
The cabin sits atop a hill near Chocolate Drop, a Hershey Kiss-shaped hill that rises above the rest of Twentynine Palms (the summit of Chocolate Drop is a pleasant and easy hike from the house). At the bottom of the hill is a grocery store and gym; five minutes away is downtown and its many restaurants and bars. About ten minutes away is the entrance to Joshua Tree National Park (the good entrance, not the clogged one in Joshua Tree village). Star gazing is stunning here.
There is public transportation, but it is inconvenient and probably impossible in hot weather. Realistically, you need a car.
The guesthouse is heated and air conditioned so you'll be able to relax in comfort no matter what the weather.
