MORE TO DO:
HISTORIC OLD TOWN TRUCKEE: is a 10 minute drive along the lake where you'll find quaint little shops to browse through with wooden boardwalks and restaurants of the old west from "a time gone by". People love visiting this part of town. Check out the great visitor center too at the train station with plenty of brochures and info on things to see and do in the entire North Shore Tahoe region from Train rides to whitewater rafting, to skydiving and much much more. The passenger train passes through daily for travelers getting on and off in Truckee then it continues on to Reno Nevada. One of our favorite large restaurants is "Bar of America" for food, drinks and live music on weekends. It's quite a happening place! There's also a wine bar across the street and many, many other places to dine.
MODERN TRUCKEE as we call it, is a 6 minute scenic drive along the lake where you'll find large chain stores for grocery, pharmacy, hardware, firewood, gas stations, restaurants, coffee shops, fast food places and more. One of our favorite restaurants there is Taco Jalisco's for excellent, casual, authentic, fresh MEX. (located next to the 7-11 store)
