The Commanders Keep is heaven on earth!! Inside and out! Also a great location!
Everything about this place is amazing! It is beautiful inside and out! The layout of the interior, the decor, the kitchen, the bedrooms... everything is perfect! It is clean, cozy, warm and inviting, you will never want to leave. Everything you could possibly want or need is there. Catherine has got every single detail covered! There are even binoculars in every room! And then there is that view! It is intoxicating!!!! Perched on the cliffs right on the ocean, it doesn’t get much better!! We sat on the deck every day! The view is amazing from every room inside the house as well, windows everywhere!! Location also perfect. Private but walking distance to everything in Trinity! Trinity is lovely ( just be aware there is no where to get groceries there, but places very short car ride away) make sure you do the Skerwink Trail and go whale watching with Kriss from Sea of Whales which is just down the road! Catherine is very kind and easy to communicate with! Quick to answer any questions and give suggestions / info on the area! The Commanders Keep is beautiful! We could not of asked for a better place to stay! I will be dreaming of the day we get to return! Thank you for sharing your place with us!!

Absolutely fantastic accomodation, perfect for three couples.
Spectacular views from every window and deck in a bustling community with lots to see and do. Hiked all the marvellous, scenic local trails (Skerwink, Fox, Horsechops, Gun Hill, Taverner's Point, and Kersley Cove) and came home to gourmet meals in well-equipped kitchen. Feasted on hand-picked berries which were still in season in late September. Easy day trips to Bonavista, the 5 coves of Route 235, and Random Passage site in New Bonaventure. Took in a play at Rising Tide Theatre and were generally inspired by the hard-working, but always happy local folk we met. It is worth a day just to amble about Trinity itself with its quaint museums, awesome restaurants (the Café for lunch and the dockside place for fish and chips). Also worth a drive around to Fort Point and the lighthouse which you can see from the deck. Overall, all six of us were delighted with our one week stay!

Phenomenal
The pictures of this house do not do it justice. It was purely spectacular, clean, comfortable and in great working order. The views off the deck are not to be replicated anywhere in Trinity. We felt so lucky to have stayed here.

Dream home for a dream vacation.
The Bonavista Peninsula kept us busy for seven days with daily hikes, boat excursions and great restaurants. For people from the 40th parallel, the exotic and wild experiences of the 48th parallel --from icebergs to moose-- were nonstop. Just when we thought nothing could top a hike, around the point we would find new and completely different wildlife or geology or social history experiences. Having Commander's Keep to go back to each night provided us with an awesome place to kick back and decompress after one busy day after the other. The house is gorgeous, propped on a bluff over Trinity Bay, with all facets of domestic life--kitchen, living room, bedrooms--well-equiped. Catherine Carpenter is a great hostess/owner who, although we never met her in person, treated us warmly in all of our correspondence. Catherine's property managers, Alma and Alf Bellows, were there for us at a moment's notice with anything that we needed, and are wonderfully cheerful, decent, and interesting people. We will never forget Newfoundland!

A magical and memorable stay!!
Even better than we had imagined. The warmth and comfort of a truly magnificent home, set high on the picturesque banks of one of Newfoundland's most historic and beautiful harbour communities. We have been touched by our time here; we will treasure the memories; and we hope to one day return.

More lovely that it looks on the website
We had a wonderful, rejuvenating time at Commander's Keep. It was everything promised by the description and pictures, and MORE. The town of Trinity is lovely. The location feels like staying at the peaceful edge of the earth. Puffins are close by as are wonderful hikes. The property had all the touches of home. Thanks!

Fantastic views. Lovely property. Four Star
Overall we would rate the property with a four star. The property location views were fantastic and better than expected. The property was very clean and stocked with all the necessary supplies such as sugar, flour, coffee, cookware including wine glasses, bath towels, bath soap and laundry washing liquid. The homeowner left helpful notes throughout the house regarding house maintenance. A greeting notebook was provided to the property guest; it was filled with informative events which occurred during our stay in Trinity. Local attractions were included in the notebook that guided us to other nearby areas to visit. This is a lovely property with very comfortable accommodations to just kick back to enjoy the views and the sounds of the water splashing against the rocks. At night, we enjoyed the light house light and sounds of the fog horn. The people in Trinity were friendly; we enjoyed our chats. We were greeted by the local management team and enjoyed their follow-up visit mid-week. We recommend taking the local Trinity Walking Tour with Kevin Toope (he was a wealth of information about Trinity history). We are so blessed to have found this property and to have experienced Trinity. Our minds drift back to Trinity with the hope to visit this property again.

Superb property in a perfect location
This property is first rate. We spent 10 days there and the place was very clean, beautifully designed, completely comfortable and exceptionally well appointed- there was nothing we ever went to get that was not there. These are very thoughtful owners and it is a dream kitchen in terms of layout and supplies. Trinity itself is a marvel. You could spend all day on the porch looking out or go whale watching,. fishing, hiking, kayaking etc. There is much to do. Trinity has a theatre company also, many good restaurants, wonderful craft stores and the people are charming and welcoming and are proud of their history. This was one great holiday and our only regret was leaving. We were very well taken care of and hope to return.

Gorgeous home, incredibly views
What a beautiful home! My family and I were staying at Commander's Keep while in the Trinity area for a family reunion. We could not have been more impressed and comfortable. From the warm welcome of the Caretakers, Josephine and Hedley, to this gorgeous 5 star home and views from all the windows as well as the wrap around deck. Every little detail is met and surpassed in this perfectly designed and built but traditional looking Nfld. home. When visiting my home and family we will definitely stay again. This is one of the very few places that I have stayed that the pictures cannot do it justice. We literally gasped when we walked in, the home and the view of Trinity Bay and lighthouse is breathtaking. The house from top to bottom is incredibly clean, well maintained, extremely comfortable beds, well laid out for quite a few people to be very comfortable. The Dock Marina Restaurant as well as the Trinity Mercantile have great food, the entertainment at the Trinity Dinner Theatre was excellent. Thanks very much!

Thoroughly Impressed, Again!
We first discovered Commander's Keep when friends gave the property and the town of Trinity a glowing review. On their recommendation, we spent a week at the house in late August 2012. After being thoroughly impressed the first time, we returned in early June 2014 for another memorable vacation. What a treat: perched on a hilltop, and with its waterfront vantage point, the house offers unobstructed views of the harbour, the ocean and the town. From the outside, the house fits perfectly in the town’s plan to protect its historic character, but inside, it offers modern, open concept main floor with living room, dining room, and fully appointed kitchen. Upstairs, three spacious bedrooms allow you to retire in comfort. Finally, there are luxurious bathrooms for everyone. On sunny days, walk to the shops or restaurants in Trinity, take in a play at the Rising Tide Theatre, drive to the Dungeon Provincial Park, see the puffins and cellars in Elliston, visit the site where the Random Passage TV series was filmed and learn about the history of the region. Don’t forget the lighthouse in Bonavista, especially when the seascape is crowded with icebergs. On rainy or foggy days at the house, enjoy the books, games, DVDs or the excellent sound system. Don’t forget your camera: the vistas inspire every photographer. Finally, plan another visit: we did and are not regretting it.

Fantastic stay!
What a lovely house & fantastic setting! Commanders Keep sits close to the beautiful little village of Trinity, but offers peace & privacy. The deck overlooks Trinity Harbor with the lighthouse in the distance. We had sunny, brilliant days & a few rainy, windy days, but it didn't matter- the house was so inviting it was hard to leave! My husband & I enjoy doing much of our own cooking, it was very easy to do in the well stocked kitchen. For a little variety there are several wonderful little restaurants in town. We had worried a bit that it might be too "touristy" in Trinity- but not at all. Just the right blend of things to do but kept its very personal, small village flavor.
