Live like a local in the Dordogne Valley! Castles, gourmet food, wine & history

Enjoy the changing of the seasons as the colours in the patchwork of the Périgord change from browns and yellows to reds and greens.

Rent the barn on its own with your walking buddies or with the cottage for large family groups and friends. We have maps onsite of our local walks for your enjoyment.
This beautiful old 1811 barn has been beautifully decorated to create a modern luxurious space.
The upstairs bedroom offers a queen-size bed as well as a single bed with an en-suite bathroom.
Downstairs the bedroom offers 3 single beds and a Italian shower room.
The second downstairs bedroom has a lovely double bed sleigh bed and high ceilings. There is a toilet room next to this bedroom.
Outside we have a lovely seating area overlooking the orchard with a 3 x 3 m plunge pool. Situated only 1 km from the very popular Tremolat which has 5 great restaurants and a cafe in our quaint village.
Take a walk into the village and choose from our many local restaurants:
The famous Le Vieux Logis offers "art on a plate by our Michelin star chef Vincent.
The Bistro en Face has also been awarded a Michelin star. Whilst the meals are bistro-style they are all beautifully presented and delicious. Les Tartines is a wine bar that offers smaller meals, should you wish something lighter. The pizzeria offers delicious pizzas as well as a variety of local dishes.
During the summer there is a pop-up restaurant on the waters edge of the Dordogne River which serves a variety of light meals.
The Cafe Village on the outskirts of outskirts of our quaint Tremolat village offers weekly music sessions which is fun for the whole family.
Please note that should you be renting only the barn, the main pool unfortunately is not included in your rental.
Should you wish to use bicycles, especially the "e-bikes" which makes climbing our local hills more attainable, we can certainly hire bikes on your behalf at an extra charge.
During your stay at this vacation home, you'll be close to Cingle de Tremolat Panoramic View. Features include an outdoor pool and a spa tub. The vacation home offers free WiFi and a private pool.
  • Air-conditioned home with private pool, kitchen, and washing machine
  • Free WiFi
  • Take a swim in the outdoor pool or soak in the spa tub
  • 8 minutes by car from Cingle de Tremolat Panoramic View and 11 minutes from Jardins Panoramiques de Limeuil

Lovely barn conversion well equipped
Lovely decor, good facilities and very well equipped. Perfect for our small group. Perhaps a couple of things could be better: - shower addition for the 3rd bedroom (already sink & loo) & heating in that room - doors all stick and are very noisy to open & close - heating in main living area needs upgrading for winter months (you have to put the wood burner on as soon as it goes dark outside) - a LOT of small beetles falling from the roof… needs treating ?? - fenced area needed for barn to contain dog But overall a very pleasant stay and much appreciated the high quality beds, linens and little touches like the Xmas tree 😍 Thank you 🙏

Lovely Spring break
Really nice property for a relaxing break away from it all for a family of four. The weather was much warmer than expected so on reflection we maybe should have considered a property with a larger pool; however the property was spacious and well appointed making us feel very relaxed. Some gorgeous villages in and around the area. As well as Tremolat itself, Limeuil was gorgeous and a nice lunch under the trees overlooking the Dordogne in Mauzac was a highlight too! Karen was super helpful too whenever we had any questions ….thank you!

The Jewel of the Dordogne
From the first time we heard of this beautiful place to the sad day that we had to leave we were mesmerized by this absolutely stunning part of the world. The cottage and the barn allowed us to move in and live as if we were at home with everything you would need and more. Wonderful evenings by the fireplace and early morning jogs made the stay special and we will definitely be back in the future!! Thank you Karen for such an incredible holiday. You made it very special for us.

A perfect French cottage
Les Chouettes is a charming truly French cottage. It was very comfortable and well equipped. The location is perfect for making day trips to many of the beautiful villages and historic sites in the Dordogne and other areas of the Perigord. The owner and the property manager were very accommodating. I would highly recommend this property for your vacation in the Dordogne.

The French Country Cottage , Les Chouttes, is just that except it is warm, cozy and charming too
Jon & I recently spent 4 days at this delightful country retreat! Quiet & peaceful, it truly is home from home with every comfort from heated towel rails, comfy furnishings to warm cozy duvets! It is tastefully decorated and Karen , your hostess, has thought of EVERYTHING! There are bikes to ride, a swimming pool for summer and a volleyball net. it is a 15-20min walk into Le Tremolat where you will find from Pizza to Fine dining! sightseeing in the area is breathtaking and find out if max will be available from the Duck & Truffle for a wine tour or 2. Definately needs a spot on your bucket list!

lovely barn conversion in a beautiful and peaceful location.
The property is well equipped and very easy to stay in in. Location is excellent: only a 15 - 20 minute walk into Tremolat, which is just enough to build up an appetite when you walk in to get your morning baguette and croissants. A couple of good restaurants in the village and others in the area. Lovely clear skies. We had a fantastic two weeks.

Really lovely property in a great location
This is a very well done barn renovation. My partner and I stayed here with two friends for a week and there was plenty of room for us all. The property was very clean, well maintained and stocked with all the utilities you could need. Ideal location, quiet but restaurants and bakery within walking distance, and plenty of castles and places to visit within an hour's drive. Would strongly recommend.

Beautiful property and very responsive hostess
This is a beautifully re-purposed property (formerly a barn). It has a very well equipped kitchen and convenient in-house washer/dryer combo. The décor is both elegant and comfortable. Highly recommend a lengthy stay as long as you have a vehicle since the village of Trémolat (which is in walking distance) has only one bakery, nice restaurants but no grocery store. Simon, the local contact, is very responsive and pleasant. One of the loveliest properties during our nine-week stay in France.

Fascinating France
Charming, spacious and comfortable, the converted barn has been our home for a week. Comfy beds, loads of space, a plunge pool for those brave enough to test the waters, wonderful walks and seriously good restaurants near by. Centrally situated, an ideal base to explore the vineyards, villages and towns of the region. Thank you Simon for your kind attention, and Karen for sharing this lovely spot.

We had a lovely week staying in the Dordogne made even better by staying in this wonderful barn. We really loved the open feel of it. There was everything you needed for your stay and more. As a bonus there was lots of everything i.e. Glasses I could not fault it in anyway, a truly 5* holiday let. The Hunt family
