The City Roost with Balcony | Walk Everywhere | AC | Beach | Downtown

The City Roost
Bedroom 1: Queen Bed | Living Area: Queen Murphy Bed

A spacious, updated apartment located in the world-famous French Cat. Two queen beds and one bathroom. Just a short walk to everything downtown. It is 1/2 mile from the beach and 1/2 block from Tart trail. Enjoy the weather with your own private balcony. This is a second floor apartment with no elevator service.

This apartment is a fabulous space. Located in a boarding house which was built in the 1800s, this apartment is a modern beauty. Approx 450 square feet of brand new finishes, make this one of the most exciting furnished apartment spaces available in Traverse City. The flooring has been replaced but it is very slanted, its totally safe but there is about an 18" increase from one side of the unit to the other. Eighth street is a mixed-use neighborhood, with both businesses and homes . This apartment is upstairs with no elevator service.

Other things to note:
This is an old building which has been lovingly renovated one apartment at a time. It is safe, comfortable and clean but also very quirky and definitely not perfect. You would be disappointed if you expected a modern exterior. But, the apartments are newly remodeled, plush, and comfortable. It is a blast to stay here, and it is hard to find a closer room to downtown at such a reasonable price.

Living in the middle of the fun, sometimes means you can hear street noises from local businesses (late night dance music) or traffic. White noise machines available in the unit to block out unwanted noise and potentially promote more restful sleep.

OUTDOORS
Shared outdoor space nestled right on the TART Trail

INDOORS

A bit of history
Loved the City Roost. I grew up two blocks north of the Roost on Washington Street. Back in the late 60s and early 70s the first floor was a meat market and store where we got pop and junk food. During our stay, we have coffee or cocktails on the balcony and reminisce about those days

Host & Location Great, Unit Not So Much.
You can't deny the location is great. The unit not so much. Nothing in the house is level. The shower is so small, a toddler would barely fit. The shower head was terrible and I did call and ask Troy to replace it and he did. Troy and the location are great. I spent most of my time out and away from the unit, because it is so uncomfortable to walk around in it. I will not stay again and I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Great location!!
Loved the location! Walking distance to Front St, the waterfront both on the bay and to an awesome 4 mile walking trail around Boardman Lake. Definitely an older building, but knew this going in because of the amazing details given ahead of time. Inside the apartment was a really cool industrial meets farmhouse meets old historical vibe. Property management was prompt with all communication. Great for our wine weekend stay!

Not newly remodeled & plush like the website says.
I was expecting an old house that had been updated. This was an old house with extremely stained carpet on the steps, a chipped and broken door to get in and overall dingy hall and outside. The room was just as pictured which is what we were expecting. The 18 inch slope was also expected. The smell of the condo was unexpected and smelled of old laundry. They replace all of our towels because of the smell but the replacements also stunk like they’d not been laundered. The sheets also smelled like sour laundry. We ended up buying our own towels because it was so smelly. Location was good and easy to walk to downtown.

It ok for the price
It’s ok … I wouldn’t stay here again, very noisy (traffic). The bathroom is SUPER tiny. The floors are very uneven. The bed was very comfy and it is within walking distance to downtown so that is good.

Great location, awesome host - not a true 1 bd rental
We loved everything about this bnb except for the fact there was no private bedroom with a door or a wall to the common space it connects with. It was difficult to to figure that out from the pictures alone and for that reason I really couldn't give the place 5 stars. Had we wanted to go with a studio there were many other cheaper options in the area to consider. Aside from that the place was quite charming. Wouldn't want to stay there for longer than a couple nights but has the basic necessities to feel comfortable. The host was also very responsive.

Basic accommodations within walking distance of downtown.
The property satisfied our basic need of having a clean place to sleep and visit amongst ourselves. It is also within walking distance of several nice bar and grills. The listing should be more forthright about the lack of private bedroom (it is an open studio). It should also be more forthright about lack of a stovetop or oven and that the fridge is a small drink fridge. We were there to race Iceman, so had no desire for luxuries. Even so, we were surprised at how basic the accommodations were. We carefully read the property description, and almost missed that we would not be able to cook our own meals. A toaster should be added.

Great location!
This was a great location for our girls weekend! There were two breweries very close by, a wine store across the street that was offering free wine tasting, and downtown shops and restaurants were only about a 15 minute walk! This cute and quirky apartment was the perfect place for us. Thanks for everything!
