Faded glory best describes this property, and that's not a compliment. Billing itself as a four-star property, the Shinjuku Washington is generally on par with a standard 2-3 star business hotel. It's clean but cramped and has some very weird "hospitality" at points that is quite off-putting. But for the price, the lack of amenities and lack of customization is appalling. The windows don't open and the A/C is centrally controlled, meaning the entire hotel has a 'stuffy' feeling that gets worse as you move from lobby to hallway to your room. Sure it's clean, but it's so stuffy it never actually FEELS clean because there's always dust or something in the air. The basic room is tiny, particularly if you have more than 2 bags. They don't make up for this with any public space in the hotel, either. There's no business center or lounge in the hotel somehow, and the private business listed as a "business center" on the building map is unaffiliated with the hotel and hostile to non-Japanese persons. There's also no public bath or really any other public space than a few seats in the lobby, which also feels very hostile. We're paying a premium to stay in this hotel, but to actually sit down for a minute in something like a lounge would be nice. Instead, we're directed to the restaurants to pay for space... the breakfast at the rooftop restaurant had a nice view but mediocre food. Oh, and it's 15 minutes walk to the station too.

Staff are nice esp Ngoc at the front desk was very helpful getting the concert ticket for my daughter by calling the local post office to deliver the concert tickets to the hotel in time. My daughter enjoyed the concert happily though it was pouring rain on that evening

We booked 3 twin rooms at Washington Hotel Main for one nite stay. Reception staff helped with the check in which was a mix of manual and online. Room was decent size but the room I was assigned had black marks/stains on the walls which make it unpleasant to the eyes. The other 2 rooms were clean. Opted for breakfast package and there were 3 restaurants to choose. Reception is on 3rd floor but there were restaurants and mini mart on Basement 1 and a pharmacy next to the hotel. Need to walk about 12 to 15 mins to the Shinjuku Train Station and main shopping area. The limo bus to Narita and Haneda Airports is outside the hotel so that is a big plus. Also lots of self-managed locked luggage storage for those whose flights are way after check out time.

The hotel only cares about making money from you rather than providing service or convenience to its guests. First, no concierge to help you with luggage. If you want to change your room, you are required to drag all of your luggage to the front desk from your room, to get a new room card, and then drag them all the way to your new room. Imagine dragging two heavy luggage from one end of the hall way to the other end on very soft carpet by yourself. They don't care how inconvenient it is for you. Secondly, no room service, even for laundry. If you want your laundry to be done, you have to bring it to the front desk and don't expect it to be put in your room when it is done, instead, you have to go to the front desk to get it yourself and pay right there. They won't charge it to your room, so if you didn't bring money/card when you are at the front desk for laundry, you have to go back to your room to get it. Their excuse is always short of staff, even though there were times that 6 of them were on the front desk. And after checking out, you can't expect to get a free bottle of water any more. Because you are not their guest any more. It is TWO HOURS AWAY from Narita airport, be aware before booking this hotel. There is an airport shuttle that you pay to the hotel to use, but if you miss even one minute for the scheduled bus, you have to pay again for the next bus departing only one hour later. The custom service person gave you criticisms than willing to help.

During my travel to JP, I stayed at Washington hotel in Yokohama and Shinjuku. It’s a great facility with lots of comforts. Location is safe, clean and tidy. Small but spacious. Staffs are so helpful. I asked them to give me a room with nice view and my view was perfect right to the government metropolitan building that I could see the light dance from the window. Breakfast menu is so good including western and Japanese. I am glad that I spent my best days ever at this location.

The hotel is in a great location - near to Shinjuku Station but on the quiet side so there is not as much noise and activity. The rooms are not large -- and the bathroom is very small - but it did the job and the space is generally clean. I would caution folks with allergies, though, that the hotel is an older property and there seems to be some mold that they cannot remove from the bathroom area - so if you have a mold allergy, you might select a different hotel. Otherwise, it is close to food, transportation, in a great neighborhood, and Limousine Bus picks up at the front door!
