Trelake Cottage. An Idyllic Holiday cottage near to Trebarwith Strand

The cottage benefits from far reaching views across the sea and out towards Port Isaac. Parts of this characterful home date back 450 years and benefits from 2 generous sized bedrooms, a family bathroom with a bath/shower, spacious sized lounge, separate dining room and fully equipped kitchen, which leads on to a terraced garden at the rear, complete with seating areas. We believe we have created a calm, tastefully furnished and decorated space for our guests to enjoy and relax in. Guests have sole use and access to all rooms apart from a 3rd bedroom which is used for storage and locked at all times. The same applies to the garden and parking space. Off road free car parking, with space for 2 x standard Saloon cars.
We are pet friendly and have a reasonable charge of £7.50 per dog, per night with simple House Rules. I provide towels incase of inclement weather, throws, metal water/food bowls, poop bags and we have a designated Dog waste bin. The garden is private and enclosed and has been tried & tested by our own K9s for escape routes, but we still request owners keep an eye on their pet when out in the garden. We implore pet owners to be responsible and clean up any dog mess from the garden and immediate area of the cottage. Unfortunately, due to a too frequent spate of owners ignoring this simple rule, we have had to introduce a Garden Cleaning fee of £50 which will be requested through Vrbo, should any dog poop be found by us, once the garden has been inspected after guests leave. THIS IS NOT OUR RESPONSIBILITY. Should this rule be broken you will be reported to Vrbo, and we will have to take serious consideration for the future that all pets be banned.
It is conveniently positioned, being within walking distance of the famous South West Coastal path and Tintagel, with its myths and legends of King Arthur and now its new footbridge opened only in August 2019. Boscastle, Port Isaac - home of Doc Martin, Bodmin Moor, Padstow, Poldark country are all easily accessible, making Trelake Cottage the perfect base. Many other famous attractions, such as the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and Daphne du Mauriers Jamaica Inn are just a short drive away. For the more energetic guests there are many beaches nearby for surfing, body boarding and other water sports. Newly refurbished in 2019, a stay at Trelake Cottage is not to be missed. All local businesses have their own policies & procedures in relation to Covid-19 and we politely ask our guests to respectfully observe their policies. Visitors should check for further instructions. Many provide hand sanitiser at point of entry for customers use. Please check all websites of any hostelries & attractions to book a day & time slot to visit, when planning your holiday. This includes Tintagel Castle. Many of these can be planned and booked before your stay and in the busy times I would recommend it is worth contemplating doing this, not just for days out, but also meals out, just to avoid disappointment.
In a popular area for walkers and families alike, car parking in the nearby villages is well signed and ample, although in the height of season I would recommend going to the very popular villages of Boscastle & Port Isaac earlier rather than later in the day. It is worth noting that there is a short Taxi service which runs from The Old School House in Port Isaac to the car parks which are on the outskirts of the village and will cost a couple of pounds each. You may feel it is worth the cost once you have walked back up the hill from the heart of the village. Tintagel has access to several car parks within the village and parking is not a problem. We have a bus service which is prone to change to summer and winter timetables, with buses running every 2 hours. You will find the bus stop on the main B3263 road, near the turning for Treknow village. To catch the bus towards Wadebridge, you need to wait on the opposite side of the road to the brick bus shelter on the Tintagel bound side.
Popular walks in to Tintagel, beyond to Bossiney, St Nectans Glen and further on to Boscastle, although you may choose to catch a bus one way for this particular hike! In the other direction on the Coastal path, for hardened walkers you will find the coastal path to Port Isaac. This walk will take several hours one way and you will need to take refreshments as there is no where on the way to buy any, until you reach Port Gavern. Folk do definitely tend to only walk one way, as it is quite strenuous, so you will need to plot your bus route, or pre book a taxi. There are many Public Footpaths that criss cross the area.

A Relaxing and Wonderful Stay at Trelake Cottage
The cottage is a large, cosy and beautifully kept property in the quaint village of Treknow on the North Cornwall coast. We valued the excellent bed which provided the most wonderful sleep (very important for a relaxing stay), the all the amenities, the layout, the stunning garden and the fact it was walking distance from one of the most wonderful beaches in Cornwall. We felt at home right away, and we also appreciated the lovely communication from the owners providing us with all the information needed and the best wishes for a wonderful stay. We would love to come back to Trelake Cottage, which provided the best base for a most memorable holiday. Thank you very much ♥

A Cornish Christmas
We arrived to find that our hosts, Karen and Richard had decorated the house so tastefully for Christmas, so many thoughtful details and extras. The cottage was spotless and looked so welcoming. The village is an ideal location for Tintagel, Port Isaac and other Cornish beauty spots. Bearing in mind we cooked a full Christmas lunch, there was a complete selection of utensils, dishes, pots and pans- and a lovely log fire to complete the atmosphere. Having had many holidays in Cornwall, I would recommend this cottage for any family of 4, young or old

Excellent- Highly recommended
A lovely cottage, dog friendly with a lovely, dog safe garden. Cottage very comfortable and well appointed - host had pretty much thought of everything down to dog blankets, towels and treats! Trebarwith Strand beach is gorgeous, and plenty big enough for everyone - dogs, children, surfers …. Easy and pleasant walk down to beach - only about 10 mins or so. Surrounding area also lovely - nice places to visit within easy distance. Tintagel brewery shop is just around the corner and does spectacular Wagyu beef steaks …. Whether you are a dog lover, walker or family, Trelake Cottage is an excellent base. Communication with Karen, the host, is easy and clear. I would definitely recommend …..

Perfect short break location
A lovely cottage in a quiet village on the North Cornwall coast. As newcomers to this area, it turned out to be an ideal base for local beach days at Trebarwith Strand as well as exploring Tintagel. We also managed to fit in visits to Padstow, Port Isaac & Boscastle. If we had been staying longer this would have also been a great base for exploring further afield in Cornwall. The village itself was beautifully quiet and the cottage was a short walk from the coastal path, enabling us to view spectacular sunsets with ease. The cottage was clean and comfortable with lovely decor, and we would definitely love to return one day

A stay to visit St. Nectins Glen
Excellent communication by Karen and Richard. Loved the cottage and all the different interesting furniture pieces. Unfortunately the main road into the property was closed and we had to use another road for access, which was quite scary when entering onto the main road, but we survived! Would highly recommend and would return, as good value. Thank you

Cooper in Cornwall….
Are you looking for a homely, comfortable cottage in a great location….well trelake cottage is the perfect retreat for you. After booking this cottage with Richard and Karen I had nothing but helpful and prompt communications from them. They kindly contacted us as soon as the property was available, so we were lucky to have an early entry. Our party consisted of four adults and one excitable spaniel. The cottage had everything that we needed for our 4 day stay…even dog biscuits! The garden is perfect for dining in or just to take yourself away and chill ( the top garden has a lovely wooden seat) The location for us was perfect just a short walk to the coastal path and your adventures begin! Stunning scenery with dramatic drops onto small bays, this part of the Cornish coastline is just breathtaking! The walk to port Isaac is not for everyone but if you fancy a challenge … It’s worth it! As I said the cottage location was perfect for us, with so much to see and do. Many thanks for a great stay and for the apples from the garden! Regards

Short break away.
I booked this property at short notice for a 3 night break away. The owner was always prompt at replying and very accommodating. They kept us up to date and provided easy to understand information. The property is beautiful! It is located in a very quiet spot and it feels instantly cosy as you enter. It was spotlessly clean and furnished well. The owners have clearly put a lot of hard work, time and effort into getting it looking how it does today. It is gorgeous and met our every need. The garden is an idyllic spot to relax in, especially at the top looking out towards the sea in the distance. Very peaceful indeed and I imagine in the Summer, even better. The rooms are spacious and the beds comfortable. The parking space is right next to the property and easy to locate & park in. I can't fault this place. It was perfect for our needs and I've no hesitation recommending to others. Thank you for letting us stay.

Lovely cottage
This house was spotlessly clean and cosy. The information booklet provided went into great depth about the area including really interesting details on the history of the cottage itself. This was a lovely touch. The garden was delightful, as were the cows who peered over the fence at me one day. We enjoyed the easy access to the coastal paths and the local beach which gave us some fun days of boogie boarding. We would definitely recommend this place to friends and family.

Treknow Cottage
We have visited Trebarwith/ Tintagel area many times and love the area. This cottage was in an ideal location and allowed us to walk into Trebarwith and also along coastal path to Tintagel. You are also in close proximity by car to Polzeath, Port Issac and Padstow. The cottage is ideal for families and was immaculate on arrival. In these Covid times it was spotlessly clean and really well equipped. Communication with the owners was almost by return. We will definitely look to return for another visit here and would highly recommend!
