This apartment is ideally located in the heart of Tilburg, just a few minutes' walk from the central station. From here, you can easily explore the charming streets of the Dwaalgebied, filled with trendy shops, design boutiques, and cozy cafés. The vibrant Spoorzone, full of great dining and drinking spots, is also just around the corner.
Whether you're attending a concert at Poppodium 013 or an event in the Spoorzone, everything is within walking distance.
This unique apartment is located in a beautiful historic building, designed by renowned architect C.M.B. (Casper) van den Beld, who won a design competition in 1931 for the construction of this special building. The building, designed in the "De Stijl" style, is characterized by clean lines and primary colors, adding a unique historical and artistic dimension to your stay.
The stairwell of the building features stunning stained-glass windows depicting various forms of transportation through the years, as well as the coats of arms of Brabant, Tilburg, and the Netherlands. This highlights the rich history of the building.
Our spacious apartment on the third floor offers a modern living environment with all the amenities you need for a relaxing stay. The apartment features a comfortable bed, a private bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen, and a balcony, making it ideal for both short and long stays. The interior is inspired by the geometric shapes and minimalist approach of Anthony Kok, giving the space a particularly calm and elegant atmosphere.
Additionally, the apartment offers fast and reliable Wi-Fi, a balcony to relax on, and the convenience of a washing machine and dryer on the first floor.

Hotel Central Background
In 1931, the monumental Hotel Central was built opposite the station in Tilburg in Art Deco style by architect Casper Melchior Balthasar van den Beld. Before that time, this location was home to the café-restaurant Albert Janssen.
During World War I, Theo van Doesburg was stationed as a sergeant-postman on the Regte Heide between Tilburg and the Belgian border. The café-restaurant of Albert Janssen served as a meeting place for Van Doesburg and his artistic friends, who organized sensational Dadaist 'soirees intimes' there. It was also here that preliminary ideas were formulated for a new magazine (De Stijl) that would be the starting point for the art movement De Stijl, founded in 1917 in Leiden. The outlines of this renewal movement were sketched in pencil at this location on Spoorlaan in Tilburg.
As a salute to the innovation drive of that time, during the renovation of Hotel Central in 2023, it was decided to name each of the 21 rooms after an artist associated with De Stijl or a Dada artist.
In the person of Theo van Doesburg, who wrote Dadaist poems under the pseudonym I.K. Bonset, De Stijl and the experimental and absurdist Dadaism come together. Both art movements, which were a response to World War I and the new era that dawned with the 20th century, were diametrically opposed to each other.
Each of the 21 rooms in Hotel Central has received unique wall coverings featuring specific accents and/or quotes from the respective artist, writer, or architect.
Room 19: Antony Kok Room (Rotterdam 1882 – Haarlem 1969)
The Tilburg-based railway official Antony Kok was not only a close friend of Theo van Doesburg but also a patron of artists, a talented pianist, and writer. In conversations with Theo van Doesburg, who was stationed in Tilburg during World War I for a time, the first notions of what would later in 1917 in Leiden take shape with the founding of the art movement De Stijl by Van Doesburg.
In the room named after Kok, in addition to the sound poem TREIN, the poems Nachtkroeg and Stilte + Stem (verse in W) can be read. A frieze with piano keys along the ceiling commemorates his musical identity. His work as a railway official is represented (other than in the sound poem TREIN) also in the photography (Collection Nederlandse Spoorwegen, the Utrecht archive) of a colossal hanging locomotive in the main workshop of the Railways next to the Central Station, where Kok worked as a clerk, placed behind the bed. Some of the buildings of the Railways' main workshop from that time still exist and have since been renovated. One of these is the Lochal, the City Hall, in which the public library has received a very impressive housing that is certainly worth a visit.
In 2022, on the 140th birthday of Antony Kok, one of his aphorisms appeared as a light art installation on the canopy of Building 79 in the Spoorzone: 'The world of today rushes on in Dada's footsteps.'
