Pleasant small hotel. Onsen is nice. There is a second one outside, which can be accessed by a door at the main onsen. No bathroom in room. Was adjacent to a smoking room which was annoying
Very old building, no A/C, tatami is dirty, outdoor public bath is full of dead flies and indoor public bath surrounded by mould
Apparently need maintenance and renovation
My husband and I couldnât sleep all night because need sharing of bathroom, wall and door of room is too thin that hear everyone walking and talking when they pass by, thatâs too noisy
Only pro is they include dinner and breakfast ( but donât expect too much on the food )

Spacious bedroom, and en suite washroom a big plus. We were given a room on ground floor, which had convenient access to all parts of hotel. Simple breakfast but adequate. Though it would have been good to vary the menu (we had basically same food on both mornings we were there). Limited free WIFI was frustrating (only 30 mins a day). But common bath facilities in urgent need of maintenance. Most shower heads in common bath area were not working. Mixing of hot & cold water also problematic. Ample free carpark. Location ideal for those relying on JR railway. Stayed July 2019.
This hotel is located just a 5mins walk away from the Kawayu Onsen Station, but more ideal for travellers getting around with a car. Hotel is within driving distance of its surrounding attractions. The innkeeper was a very warm and friendly old man who although could hardly speak any English, won us over with his sincerity, hospitality as well as, his delicious breakfast set.
Onsen facility was rather !old and would have preferred if there were private showers in the room rather than having to bathe at the onsen.
a hotel in a small quiet town with awesome scenery. of course its a nice stopover. meals are awesome and onsen too. The hotel should work on informing or providing more information on the area around because the scenery was too amazing!
The location is great and the room is clean! I love it so much and you can take a bus or walk around for a night stay. Strong recommend!

Old hotel but cosy
Very friendly and helpful staff, excellent Japanese food. The onsen definitely needs some freshing up. The water in the outdoor onsen was only lukewarm even though its setting is beautiful.
weather was very good , the tour bus service from the train station was very good to get to see the major sights. Hotel was in a very convenient location.
Onsen was nice and hot and relaxing. Food was great. Staff was helpful in answering questions. Very convenient, just a short walk from the train station.
Location is good, very easy to find. Hot spring is very enjoyable. Breakfast is very Japanese style too. Everybody gets own tray, unlike other hotels-buttffe style. Too bad, we did not plan to stay
longer.

Pleasant Hotel Close to Attractions
Nice little family run hotel right at the foot of Mt Iokan. Took a pleasant walk to the Kawayuonsen JR station cafe for a hearty Japanese curry rice dinner followed by coffee & cookies at a neighbouring cafe. Our Japanese style room was comfortable, facilities were clean & well maintained and we had the common outdoor onsen all to ourselves that evening. A traditional breakfast of steamed rice with pickled vegetables, fish & half boiled eggs with free flowing coffee ended our overnight stay.
