Remote Mountain Cabin with Incredible Views

Come unwind at our lovely cabin tucked into the pines on 38 secluded, private acres in the Nine Mile Divide Mountains. This cabin offers amazing views of the valley, the Bitterroot Range, and sunsets you’ll never forget. So kick back and enjoy the sights, sounds and serenity of the mountains in Big Sky country. Whether you seek unforgettable outdoor adventures, or a private haven to relax, we hope we can help you find it here in this majestic part of western Montana that we love so much!

With smart locks we can provide a contactless check-in. We are available to interact as little or as much as our guests prefer. We provide a digital guidebook of the area which includes lots of information about things to do and places to check out.

We are always happy to make personalized suggestions as well.

The closest town of Superior is less than 10 miles down the highway and should provide all the services you may need. Darlow’s is a delightful, well stocked grocery store where you can surely find all the essentials for that outdoor barbeque. Durangos is the local restaurant where you’re sure to receive a delicious home cooked meal, great service, and even a delicious scoop of ice cream if you have any room left. Missoula is just a 45 minute drive!

Drop your trailer, unload your ATVs and explore miles and miles of forest lands right from the cabin with quick easy access to Second Creek and Deep Creek drainages. For the hunters, lace up your boots, grab your bow and hike up into the dark timber in search of a big bugling bull in September. The cabin is located in HD 201 which is a general elk and deer unit. Across the highway HD 202 is also a general unit. For those looking to snag a few big rainbows or browns, drop your drift boat and float the Clark Fork or book a guided trip with Adventure Missoula just up the road in Alberton. Dying to test out that new fly you just tied? Head just a few minutes down the road and offer it from the bank of the river. For those looking for some unforgettable rafting, launch your raft and navigate the beautiful whitewater of the Alberton Gorge. Pangea River Rafting is just minutes down the road from the cabin and offers guided raft trips including the Gorge. For those longing to put some unforgettable miles on their bikes, head out to explore the gorgeous Hiawatha Trail. Craving the peace of a high alpine lake? Load up the dogs and take a hike up to one of the many nearby gorgeous lakes on the Diamond and Cliff Lake Trail, Bonanza Lake Trail, Heart and Pearl Lake Trail, or the Saint Joe Lake Trail. Alternatively, try the Superior Vista Trail for an amazing view of the town of Superior and the valley. For the golfers, the beautiful Trestle Creek Golf Course is about 20 miles up the road in lovely St. Regis. In the winter, strap on the snowshoes and head out straight from the cabin to explore. Looking to ski or snowmobile? Get away from the crowds and ski the fresh powder at Lookout Pass less than an hour up the interstate. Many excellent snowmobile trails originate just to the west of the cabin in nearby Haugan and DeBorgia.

With smart locks we have a seamless self check-in process. We are available 24 hours a day to answer any questions or handle any issue that may arise. We are happy to interact as much or little as the guest prefers.

This newly renovated cabin offers a main floor with a living room situated around a large local river-rock fireplace and a fully stocked kitchen with stainless appliances and granite countertops. The master bedroom is also on the main floor and features a king bed and direct access to the large back deck with a grand mountain view. The main level full bathroom offers a 62 inch cast iron clawfoot tub that you may never want to get out of- a walk-in tile shower with flat river rock tile flooring and a river rock pedestal sink top it off. Take a long soak in the tub or curl up on one the great room's sofas, relax and enjoy the sweet aroma from the crackling fir logs on the fire.

Upstairs in the loft is a warm, homey reading nook, a large sectional sofa, a large flatscreen smart TV, a half bath, and a walkout balcony. These features make the loft the ideal space for the entire family to gather and relax after a day on the river or in the mountains. Enjoy family movie night or read the evening away in the cozy nook!

The two bedrooms on the lower level offer a queen bed and the other features two bunk beds. There is an additional rec room space on the lower level with a futon, a few games, and a flatscreen smart TV. A laundry room provides plenty of space to house your hunting and riding gear, and the new washer and dryer will ensure your attire is clean for the next day's adventure.

Outside you'll find a Traeger wood pellet smoker to provide that mouth-watering, juicy brisket right when you return home from a day of mountain recreating. You'll also find a propane BBQ just in case you need to get those elk steaks on the grill and don’t have time to smoke all day long. Need even more space? Bring your RV (30’ or less) and plug into the electrical hookup on the side of the shop.

With the serenity and privacy that our cabin offers comes a long, improved dirt driveway which has a couple of relatively steep inclines. In the winter months, a four wheel drive truck or SUV would be required and having tire chains available is highly recommended.

As an added service for our guests, we provide travel cribs and high chairs upon request, free of charge.

Steep Lane Lodge is Awesome!
This cabin is excellent. Exactly as advertised, very cozy yet immaculately clean and comfortable. The management of the property was extremely responsive and flexible. The location is wonderful if you don't mind a very steep drive to get to the property. But once there we saw a family of deer each morning and our dogs loved to roam the property. We had a wonderful time and would definitely book again.

The cabin is gorgeous inside and out. The property is huge and secluded, very private. We had teenagers and little ones. There was lots of toys and games, and room for bikes outside. Plenty of beds/couches for everyone to sleep on. It is our favorite place now and we plan to go back yearly at least!!

Great secluded cabin
Property is amazing and we hiked up the mountain side directly into the Lolo National Forest. A couple of things to note: 1. The driveway is steep, like really really steep and our rented SUV almost went back down the driveway until I found the 4 wheel drive button. There are also some decent size rocks that might tear up the bottom of a standard passenger car, so I recommend a 4 wheel drive vehicle with decent clearance. 2. There was no booklet containing all the info on the cabin, just an online portal, which I didn't like. Every VRBO I've stayed at has had a booklet with all essential info and that's preferable to having to get online to look at the portal every time or download it to my phone. 3. I didn't realize when I rented it (my fault) that it only has one shower. We had 8 people there and for some reason I just assumed it had another shower and didn't read the listing close enough. There's room in the washer and dryer area to add a stand-up shower and that would be great because that's where most of the guests sleep. Still a great place to stay and Durango's restaurant in nearby Superior is excellent. River's Edge restaurant in Alberton was not great though and pricier than Durango's. Superior is a cool little town and the hike in the mountain behind it is very cool.

Best VRBO we’ve ever stayed at!
Loved this place. It’s beautiful, secluded and has all the things. Check in was easy. We had everything we needed and the host even left us some adult beverages to enjoy. Check out was even better. We had a snafu and had to stay an extra day. It was no problem and easy to arrange. Unlike many places, we didn’t have to do any of the cleanup like stripping sheets or starting laundry. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful cabin.
Everything one could possibly want is included in this cabin. Well equipped kitchen, tasteful decorating, amazing views, and very clean. A gas grill and Targer wood fired grill made meal preparation a joy. If you go you won’t want to leave.

A little slice of heaven!
This property is absolutely amazing! We loved the privacy, the amazing views and all the comforts that this cabin had to offer. It appears that the whole cabin has been updated with top-notch details. The furnishings were all very comfortable. I loved the tub and great shower. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need, and a grill and smoker out on the deck. Our visit was during a pretty smokey week, so we loved being able to keep windows closed and run the air conditioner. The cabin is located in a beautiful area with amazing hikes and biking trails close by. We also did a river trip while we were there. We will difinitely be back!!

Beautiful Mountain Cabin
Absolutely gorgeous cabin! It is very clean and spacious and easily accommodated our party of six or more if needed! The upstairs loft was perfect spot for our family to gather and play games and have fun. We found it centrally located to so many activities (rafting, horse back riding, bike riding on the Hiawatha Trail) and so many beautiful hikes (Heart and Pearl Lakes were breath taking) and a wonderful home to return to at the end the day sitting on the deck and watching the sun set. I highly recommend and look forward to renting here again!
