This house in Wellfleet was in a decent location, although we tended to drive to both bay and ocean beaches for swimming and playing in the sand, as the nearby water wasn't very accommodating to those activities. The house was clean, but did have issues with ants. The coy pond was a peaceful place to enjoy, but much of the touted garden was dead, perhaps related to the drought, although the sprinklers woke us up early every morning. The indoors of the house was very dated, particularly the kitchen and bathrooms. The bed in the downstairs bedroom was not comfortable. There is no air conditioning and although the owner's manual spoke of the wonderful airflow in the home, we were uncomfortably hot and found the fans inadequate for temperature house.
During our stay, there was a brief power outage and we subsequently lost cable and wifi for the rest of the week. This would been fine, except there was absolutely no Verizon cell service on the grounds. During COVID, this is an issue as we were continually trying to figure out what was open, changes in hours of operation, online dining and ordering, etc. We had very limited dealings with Oceanview Realty, but found them unresponsive by email and phone.
We love Wellfleet, but would not stay at the Garden House again.
