Woodsy Personal Retreat Cabin - "Gratitude"

This little one-room cabin is ADORABLE! It has everything you need (and nothing you don't) for a quiet getaway to fill your soul. It has lots of light from large windows looking out at the woods and the Amnicon River valley, and access to hiking trails and our large private sandy beach on the South Shore of Lake Superior.

Here are a few things you'll want to know before you book this cabin:
- The cabin is clean, comfortable, and elegant, but still quite rustic. The cabin is available year-round, with a propane fireplace for your main source of heat. It has electricity, but no running water. In the kitchenette is a water dispenser for washing & drinking. Adjacent to the cabin is your own private low-odor outhouse that has a little heater and a light you can turn on from inside the cabin. Just a one-minute walk from the cabin is the main lodge, which has public restrooms for showers and flushing toilets.
- There is no drive-in access to this cabin. You can unload your vehicle about a one or two-minute walk from the cabin. We offer hand carts and/or utility sleds for bringing luggage to the cabin. The cabin is down a slight hill from the unloading area. After you've unloaded your vehicle, we'll ask you to park your car back in the parking lot along the side of the road.
- Please watch this 4-minute tour video before reserving this cabin. The video will hopefully help give you a sense of what the cabin is like so you can decide if it's a good fit for you before you make a reservation: https://youtu.be/wQIBC2ZS_p8
During your stay at this cabin, you'll be close to Amnicon Falls State Park. Enjoy your stay with amenities like a kitchenette and a fireplace in the cabin.
  • The cabin offers a kitchenette, a fireplace, and a refrigerator
  • Onsite recreation includes a sauna
  • 7.6 mi (12.2 km) from Amnicon Falls State Park and 12 mi (19.4 km) from Lake Superior

Comfy clean cabin, with tree and river view
We loved our stay, esp the hiking trails to Lake Superior! The cabin was comfortable, modern, clean, with big windows facing the trees and river.

Beautiful location
I left a review in the cabin and really enjoyed my stay. My only disappointment was that due to my social obligations (my long time friend was celebrating his 50th birthday and pressing cider) I was unable to find time to explore the beautiful woods. Additionally a mor e private shower or bathroom would be great. On the last day I went to shower but the men’s area was full of women doing whatever they needed which was fine I guess but I had to skip bathing and just went back to use my pit toilet before I left for Minneapolis.

From NC to WI
We’re from NC and we were looking for something remote but still comfortable enough since we have kids and we had to drive so far. This place exceeded our expectations! Just enough space for a family of 4! We enjoyed the quiet privacy and daily walks to Lake Superior! Thank you Camp Amnicon for a wonderful memory with my family!

Cabin was very clean. The beds were comfortable. Was nice and quiet. Really enjoyed our stay. The outhouse was nice really liked the fact that there was a light switch inside to turn the light on at night. Only downfall was the outhouse needs either a vent or deodorizer.

I spent a week at the gratitude cabin with my friend, and it was absolutely perfect! The cabin has everything you could need but isn’t excessive either! The surroundings are very pretty and foster a perfect relaxing time.

Off the grid but just like home
Cabin was so cute. Didn't like the outhouse much but happy we had an alternative. You need to get a mirror in the cabin. It would have been really awesome if we could have rented a 4 wheeler to go down to the lake with just because my feet are bad and I couldn't make the journey and i(Kris) would have loved to have gone. My husband Curtis walked all the trails every morning and LOVED it. A paved road would have been nice too but the gravel road adds to the experience. We will be back if you'll have us. Communication was great too. My questions were always answered completely and promptly. ♥️

Beautiful property…beautiful cabin…flies and bathrooms not so beautiful.
We have stayed at Amnicon and in the area before. We expected flies this time of year—late September. But, the flies in the cabin were unbearable. We didn’t see flies outdoors, but inside the cabin they were awful. The cabin itself is adorable, and so clean. The bed is so comfortable and we had an amazing night’s sleep! The outhouse is indeed the best and cleanest ever! The showers and bathrooms need updating. We don’t expect hotel level facilities. For the price paid, the bathrooms need some updating. We love Amnicon, and we will be back! We hope these comments help improve the overall experience.

Peaceful retreat
The Gratitude cabin was very peaceful, the perfect weekend retreat. I love the large windows overlooking the forest. The grounds of Camp Amnicon are very beautiful, I walked to Lake Superior to enjoy the large, sandy beach. There are many trails through the forest and the Amnicon River is close to the cabin.

Lovely and clean cabin!
We had a very nice time staying here! The cabin was lovely and very clean. We enjoyed the access of fish toilets and showers at the lodge and the area was peaceful! We couldn’t walk down to the lake because the trail wasn’t cleared but we had a lovely stay!

Perfect place for weekend getaway!
This was our second stay at camp amnicon and we love it! Perfect for a weekend up north. The host was extremely flexible with scheduling due to a March snow storm, and we had a wonderful time.
