Peaceful but misleading

Decided to book a cabin last minute for a family vacation with our two kids & two dogs. When arriving to the cabin, it was very quaint and cute. In the kitchen, there was a rule book on the table. The rule book was very organized by category with some information about the area. The first thing I noticed was that the pictures should be updated because there were no swings on the back porch, just a couple of plastic chairs. It’s a charcoal grill, so come prepared. The hosts provided firewood in the sunroom. There’s some cute string lights around the back porch, but the cord stops two feet away from the actual plug so we could not use them. We also found some old coffee grounds left in the coffee maker, so had to clean that out prior to use. There were tons of condiments in the fridge door available for use, although expired. Luckily, we did bring all of our own condiments. This cabin is pet friendly, but pets are not allowed on any furniture. This cabin has a LOT of games. The kids had fun with the air hockey table, but the sunroom is growing a dangerous amount of black mold and it was not safe to be in there. Honestly, the house should not be rented out with issues like that. The *bonus perk* pontoon was a very dirty pontoon floor with plastic chairs, empty twisted tea cans, and definitely a waste of time. The dock that it sits by is broken. Beach access was a complete joke. The local pontoon rental is actually $400 a day, not $250. Overall, we would not stay here again.

Friendly Community and Peaceful Home

We stayed for 3 nights and had a great weekend! It was the end of our 10 day Michigan vacation, so I got to stay home and do laundry while my husband and son went fishing all day. I enjoyed my quiet day with Netflix and Amazon Prime movies, and they enjoyed the area for fishing. My son LOVED having a piano to play, and he HATED that his mom beat him several times playing air hockey :) Our dog loved the daily walks around the lake. People were so friendly as we walked by. Couldn't have asked for a better stay.

Game Cabin

Game themed cabin off Jose Lake. Clean and welcoming with seven beds to choose from. We loved exploring the area, but decided Jose Lake was more for fishing than swimming. Maybe we just never found the right beach? Games were fun and it’s close enough to Iargo Springs and Lumberman’s Monument to make visiting easy. Also, not a very far run to Tawas! Host was great, house was great, will stay here again if we’re able! Thanks again! Don and Heather Hart

Pleasant Escape

We had a wonderful time in this clean and comfortable home. We were looking for somewhere where we could have some down time, and this was a great option. There were several games and an air hockey table, so that was really fun for our family, and we made a couple quick day trips to Lumberman's Monument (we loved the "Sand Hill") and Iargo Springs. Since we were just looking for a small swim spot where our kids could take a quick dip and play in the sand, nearby Chain Lake was a nice choice (it was a 7 minute drive). Obviously, the charm for this area is that it is not a giant tourist trap with a lot of flashy stuff - Tawas is close by and there are options for things like antique shops and small restaurants nearby and there are large grocery stores etc within 20 minutes if you need something. It was a nice place to stay and get away from everything for a little while.

Slight disappointed, not all the owners fault.

Beautiful area, listing was vague considering what was actually there.. The pontoon isn’t much to look at and the kayaks were full of nasty bugs my girls wouldn’t even touch them. The lake wasn’t in the best shape and we had to go to the complete other side to swim, so we chose to drive to Tawas for their beaches. I get being up north, there’s bugs, however, the mosquitos were so bad it was difficult to even be outside during the day WITH bug spray, let alone at night for a fire. Then speaking of night time, we always go on vacation with our dog and I appreciate homes that allow us to bring him, but he is little and very often timid dog, especially at night, and on 3 separate occasions during the 7days, 6 nights we were there, 3 different, clearly nearby neighbors dogs came wandering into our yard i’m the pitch darkness which totally freaked my already very anxious dog out completely. All in All, If your have a family with kids and are looking for fun activities to do with them during your stay, outside of driving 25 mins to Tawas everyday for the beach.. this probably isn’t what you’re looking for. I wish someone would of wrote a review like this for me before our vacation..

The owners Tim and Nancy were around when we arrived, very nice and helpful with info on things. The place is great!! The yard was the kids dream. The whole little community lost its power are last night there but the neighbors across the street were over right away to offer water, etc. very nice people. If your thinking about renting this place just do it. Cannot go wrong.

The house is very cute! The decorations are truly charming. The owners of the house are extremely quick to respond! They put a lot of time and energy into providing directions and recommendations for guests to ensure a fun stay! The only con to the trip was that when we went to the other property to use the boat for the day, the guests staying there had no idea we were allowed to have the boat that day! It was very awkward trying to explain to them that we got the boat on every other day!

Our little getaway trip

We came up here for our wedding anniversary, and it was a wonderful experience. The house was exactly like the pictures and it was easy to find. The only problems we encountered was the pontoon boat that you can use, it’s an older model and it only has a trolling motor. So if the lake is choppy of windy don’t take it out to far or someone will have to tow you back to the docks. Also the house could use some updates, the handrail is missing for the stairs and you really do need one, the light switch for the stairs is at the bottom and not at the top also. So you’re going down stairs in the dark to use the restroom. When we contacted the owners they where very quick to respond and we were told it would be taken care of, so hopefully they do it. But other than those minor things, this little place was a great time.
