The television did not work. I had to fix it myself by resetting the TV and the cable box and then rescanning for channels. It took almost an hour out of my day. This shouldn't be a guests responsibility.

Not sure why about several things. 1. The entrance had a strong musty odor. The 3rd and 4th floors in rooms and hallways also had a strong horrible musty odor. It permeated all my clothes. 2. There were only feather pillows that I am allergic to. Tried to get some other type pillow and all were being used. 3. Housekeeping came way too early the 3rd morning. I wasnt dressed yet. Gave them a thumbs up when I left to eat breakfast. The room was never cleaned that day. 4. There was a severe vibration on the 3rd floor. Learned later folks felt it on the 4th floor also. Enough vibration to cause the lampshades to show the vibration. It lasted for minutes at a time. Was not the elevators. You could even feel it while laying on the bed. 5. The folks were kind when reporting it. 6. The hamburger from the restaurant was awesome. 7. The odor bothered me the most. Will look for another place to stay next time I visit.

I am not a complainer but this was ridiculous. Arriving I was put in a wheelchair accessible room when I didn’t ask for it.. mix-up..fixed. The climate control panel didn’t work in the room I was moved to. The next room stunk terribly with mildew. Finally the 4th room was fine. The breakfast was terrible and the girl running the breakfast room was completely ditzy and incompetent. The oatmeal was watery and gross and my omelette order was messed up twice.

They keep charging my card random amounts. I checked out Sunday. But overnight they tried to charge me 60$ when I checked out they did it again. Luckily my card was locked. This morning woke up to two declined charges from the holiday in one for 60$ and another for $146 mind you the hotel alone was only 45$

Comfy and great location
Great location just outside of South Bend. Super comfy bed and pillows. Wish the breakfast was complimentary like other Holiday Inn Expresses. Unfortunate that the bar was closed the day we arrived.

The room was clean and comfortable. Air conditioning worked well and was controlled by a wall thermostat, a plus. Housekeeping cleaned up, made bed, and left new towels - not a given at all hotels today. Desk people were personable and attentive.

First floor room
C checking in was pretty simple. Front desk was friendly and courteous. When we checked in and we went through the side door it smelled like a wet earthy smell in the hallway. When we open the door, we were immediately greeted with an odd smell that smelled like chlorine and earth. We went down to the front desk and they gave us a spray to spray the room with which we did. We also elected to get the room breakfast in the morning, which we weren’t able to use due to the constraints of having to be at another appointment, we inform the front desk at that time in the morning about our issue with the smell and very courteous very polite. Young lady basically indicated that she had had previous reports of smells around that room. She said they do flush the pool out which we were right by which may have caused the smell. my husband had told her that he felt like he should’ve called the hazmat group in that in Mishawaka because it was so overpowering to him. All the room was very good very clean if it wasn’t for the fact of the smell, I’d be giving a better review.
