Repugnant Fragrance Penetrated Everything
The location and the setting were beautiful. We went in June so it was quiet, and flowers were in bloom. Lovely paths ran through the community, great for people and pets. At night we heard frogs peeping in the pond, and we left our windows open every night.
Unfortunately, we had to leave the windows open as much as possible because of the overwhelming and hideous fragrance that permeated the condo. Every sheet, pillow, towel and piece of furniture reeked of perfume / fragrance. The bed had a horrible aroma. We had to sleep on the uncomfortable roll-out sofa, which also reeked. Even the cabinet interiors reeked. We had to scrub our hands every time we touched a textile.
We ended up buying new towels and sheets at Walmart. Those became permeated with fragrance; after we got home we had to wash them--and our clothes--three times.
The windows were hard to lock, came out of their tracks, and could easily be broken into.
There were no blinds on the sliding glass doors. We had to buy another sheet to hang there, after our host told us she "might" get some curtains for the next guests.
We found the kitchen supplies sadly lacking, and the cookware had nonstick surfaces, which are unhealthy for living creatures.
The place could use a thorough vacuuming and the stains on the kitchen chairs and carpet could benefit from a steam cleaning. We could have tolerated many issues if our stay hadn't been ruined by the fragrance.
