Great location, disappointing experience

First and foremost I have to say the hotel is in a great location in the city and in general the staff were mainly friendly and helpful. The Hotel itself is as the name suggests "Grand" and the architecture absolutely beautiful in parts. The breakfast buffet was ok and lunch was also a good standard. One small irritation was that the hotel was not able to provide an ironing board (fire risk apparently). You could make use of the laundry service but the prices for ironing a shirt did not represent value for money. My main disappointment however was that I was due to spend 8 nights at the hotel, however due to changes in my work schedule I needed to reduce that to three nights. Despite declaring that upon arrival, I was met with a flat "sorry we cannot help you sir". I therefore had to pay the full nightly rate for the 8 nights including the ones that I would not be staying at the hotel. The terms and conditions do state no cancellation (this was not a cancellation as such, but a reduction in the number of nights with 4 days notice). As a frequent visitor to Sofia I was pretty disappointed at the lack of insight and creative thinking. I felt we could of come to an amicable solution which would of encouraged me to pick this hotel for future visits.

Das Hotel ist in die Jahre gekommen, in der Suite war die Durchgangstüre defekt. Einrichtung des Hotels ist doch schon etwas abgewetzt. Lifte funktionieren auch nicht immer so toll und klein. Beim Frühstück muss man auch nicht zuviel Begrüssung erwarten und Punkt 10.00 stürmt die Köchin in den Saal und räumt in aller Schnelle das Buffet ab. Sind uns von einem fünf Sterne Hotel etwas anderes gewohnt. Vor dreissig Jahren waren die Sterne vielleicht berechtigt.

Tout était correct. Personnel très serviable. La télé par contre très petite par rapport à la chambre. Manque de prise électrique dans la salle de bain. Petit déjeuner copieux avec un personnel souriant et agréable.
