This choice was based upon location to get us close enough to make the next day reasonable. Goal accomplished. The motel seemed safe enough. The room rivaled Motel 6 with a higher price? The bed worked. The shower was adequate. There was a microwave and a 1 cup coffee maker in the room. The shades closed. The TV had 1 volume...loud. Understand what you are getting - a clean bed, a shower, and a few amenities.

No one at front desk after 10. When attendant came he could not get the code for the door to work. Found 2 spiders in the room, and refrigerator had dog hair and what looked like urine in it. Carpet was filthy. Not worth the money!

Our first room was not clean upon entry, so we pulled back the sheets to check the mattress and there was stain that appeared to be vomit but not totally sure what bodily fluid was on it. The attendant was friendly and gave us another room, but the code didn’t work. He came and reset the code and there was underwear on the bed and a suitcase, so then we got a 3rd room. It was also not clean, so we made a not with the attendant that we refused to stay at the hotel. We arrived around maybe 8 pm after driving 9 hours. We ended up driving another 4 hours to get to Davenport and slept at a truck stop because it was cleaner. We asked for a refund through Hotels.com because of the conditions, but never heard back after receiving a case number. I know there are not many other choices along I-80, but I would recommend driving anywhere else if feasible. I understand this is a budget option, and the campground may be OK, but the cleanliness and condition of the hotel were unacceptable.

We had to arrive past checkin time and they were so friendly and accommodating - we really appreciated the extra care and courtesy. Although the facilities are “well-worn” they are clean and comfortable and we would definitely stay there again!

The hotel was so-so. The staff went out of their way to ensure we had coffee for the AM. Limited dining in Shelby. Avoco 8 min east had better dining choices. Avoco also has a beautiful community swimming pool easily accessable.
