Pet friendly cottage just outside Scarborough. Ideal base. Own parking.

Foxglove Cottage is one of our 3 lovely holiday cottages providing clean affordable accommodation just outside the village of Scalby. Approx 3 miles away from Scarborough with National Park surroundings. We accept a maximum of 2 well behaved pets in this cottage . If you would like a pet free cottage then please look at our listing for Wren Cottage, sorry no cats.
The cottages are suitable for families or couples and are very handy for extended families to have a get together while still having their own space for either a short break or a full week.
The Cottages are situated in an idyllic rural location up a country lane which has only a few properties accessed by it yet only a five-minute drive from Scarborough and the Yorkshire Heritage Coast. They are set overlooking a valley within the North York Moors National Park. Each cottage has access to the garden which is shared between our three lovely properties it has beautiful southerly views of rolling wooded countryside towards Forge Valley Woods.
Parking is adjacent to each cottage and with no steps or stairs they are ideal for people with limited mobility although not suitable for wheelchairs due to space needed for turning.
All our self catering holiday cottages are non smoking. They are maintained to a good standard by ourselves and kept in a traditional style with comfort our main priority.

Each cottage can sleep up to four adults in a double room and a twin room (a cot and high chair can be provided by arrangement). The cottages have a lounge / dining room with dining table, colour television, DVD player, CD radio, books, games and local information to plan your days and evenings out and have a galley style fitted kitchen with full size cooker, microwave, refrigerator with ice-box and an extensive inventory of cookware, crockery and utensils. Wren and Willow have the benefit of a dishwasher. Bathrooms include a bath with shower over and extra grab rails to help with mobility. Fresh bed linen and duvets are provided (note: cot linen is not provided) We provide a selection of towels and tea towels. basic toiletries, cleaning equipment and enough tea and coffee sachets so you can make a cuppa before you unpack. The cottages are heated by electric radiators which you have full control over. Wifi is also provided.

Scalby & Surrounding Area
The village of Scalby is a short distance from the cottages and offers a general store, newsagents, cafe, and two public houses. Its village church, St. Lawrence's, dates from 1180 and is well worth a visit - the lych gate and stained glass being particularly fine. There are many walks around the village and the banks of the Sea Cut (a Victorian man-made flood channel following the original course of the River Derwent) provide an interesting and level walk. Scarborough and the coast are just a five minute drive away.

Derwent Valley And Hackness
The nearby (2 miles) Derwent Valley and the Hamlet of Hackness offers more beautiful scenery that leads to the North Riding Forest Park. Also in easy traveling distance is the popular moorland village of Goathland - made famous as the village of "Aidensfield" in the "Heartbeat" television programme.

The cottages have public footpaths nearby and have beautiful views from the shared garden over Forge Valley and towards the woods. We also offer on-site parking, with space for two cars per cottage. Two of our properties are pet-friendly – the third is kept pet-free. All cottages are non-smoking.

Prices range from just £320 per week in low season to £600 in high season. .

Weekend Stay
The area and surroundings were absolutely beautiful, the accommodation however was not what was expected as soon as you walk in there was a fusty smell and very old furniture which was very uncomfortable also the beds were hard and uncomfortable and the kitchen equipment felt dirty and in the bathroom there were cobwebs, all in all good weekend but the accommodation was overpriced and disappointing 😞

Cute and cosy cottage, ideal for a break away
Great location with easy links to surrounding area. Cottage was cute, cosy and had everything you need. Clear communications from the lovely Jo. Welcome note, tea/coffee/sugar/milk/biscuits to start the break off were much appreciated. I'd definitely recommend. 3 cottages, meaning up to 12 people could stay.

Beautiful little gem
Light , airy ,a very sweet cottage . The sofa is super comfy and beds are cosy and warm . The cottage was well equipped and everything was to hand. All the heating / hot water was very good. The views are to dye for , stunning location. The neighbours were very friendly . I have one small little niggle, my oversight I’m sure, but there didn’t appear to be anywhere at the top of the hill to walk our dog , so consequently it meant having to go up and down the steep windy road track . We did find Scalby beck though and it is a perfect of lead doggy walk .

Disappointed
Not really dog friendly. They accept dogs but property opens out onto lane and you have to walk dogs on leads and on lane. Not enough equipment - 1 egg cup and 3 wine glasses for 4 people ! No DVD player. Decor clean but tired. Views on photos misleading as property looks out onto house across the road. Vastly overpriced I’m afraid.

Short Stay
Overall we enjoyed the stay, but, the main problem was the internet was very poor "when it worked at all" the tap continually dripped in the kitchen, and the shower was very weak, i feel if these things were to be improved then the holiday experience would be very much better..
