It’s not great once you get in the room.
The location is great and the lobby is beautiful. Now, the room itself wasn’t clean (especially the bathroom). They also double charged me for the room, but it was quickly corrected once I called to get it fixed. It does have an excellent view!

I made this reservation for my 6 month old and myself, just to sleep for the night so I wasn’t looking for much I just wanted to have a safe and nice stay for us both after the hurricane completely destroyed our home. Only parking is $45 valet. I checked in around 8:30PM, and I stood in this line for about 20 minutes while the front desk agent gave the best customer service to the guest in front of me, touring them around the lobby while I stood there with bags and a baby for what seemed like forever. No room service, so I was told to call the bar downstairs to order take out food. The menu online is outdated as I was rudely told by the bartender who told me that I needed to go down there to view the menu and hung up on me when I asked what was his favorite thing? As I was hungry and I would’ve ordered anything. I called back and he ordered it for me and hung up abruptly once again. The bed… was extremely lopsided and had the imprint of a large person/multiple people who sleep on that same side for the last 10 years. It was gross, but didn’t have to worry about my son rolling off the other end, because he rolled downhill into me instead.The walls are paper thin, I heard every word of the conversations in the four walls surrounding me and the person above me dropped things in the middle of the night and jump scared us both awake. Valet was no where to be found after they brought my vehicle up to the lobby. We stood in the cold for 10 minutes locked out of our car. Don’t recmnd

The room we stayed in was a converted storage room. The shower was an ADA walk in shower and didn’t have a run off. Consequently the water ran into the living space of the bathroom after each shower. There was a huge whole in the wall where the shower knob was. Otherwise it was a nice and clean hotel for the rate. Valet parking was amazing. Each time my car was requested it there was no wait and in front of the building. The location is awesome and accessible to everything downtown by foot.

Do you need a dose of friendly folks helping you have a can’t go wrong vacation? Booking a week at the DeSoto was a great decision! Fabulous food ( hotel features amazing dinners, hope-ie hour, tours that were flexible and doable, concierge that knew exactly how to explain it to us so we would NOT get lost and the great building centered in the middle of walking distance to historic everything!

Great location. Needs some upgrades to rooms and TLC to plumbing, in room amenities (coffee machine an issue no mini fridge or mini bar). Staffing was mixed. Some very very friendly others seemed indifferent or annoyed at me (perhaps it’s my face. If so that’s okay). Service industry aim high. Great property that could actually be much much better. Show me what you can do if you care.

You have a wonderful property here, but there are a few areas that could significantly enhance the overall experience. The hotel could benefit from renovations, as the wear and tear are noticeable. For example, our bathroom had a large crack in the tub, and the faucet was loose, giving the space a run-down feel. A fresh coat of paint and general upkeep would go a long way. Additionally, the cleanliness needs more attention. We saw an old bandage on the floor outside a neighboring room for two days, and piles of sheets were left on a table near the elevator—something you’d expect not to see at higher-end hotels. Not having a mini-fridge in the room was also inconvenient. While the facilities need improvement, I must commend the front desk staff, who were very friendly and accommodating.
