Location was good - easy to walk to all the main sites. Gym was good for a hotel. Parking at the city garage across the street was affordable (valet is 2-3x the price). Right across from a gas station for snacks. Room was fairly comfortable and clean. Service was mediocre. Decor slightly tacky.

The beds and pillows were the most comfortable that I have ever experienced in a hotel! Not much of a view. But it was downtown. Overall the hotel and their small quaint bar were lovely. The hotel bathrooms were absolute ice boxes though. That was unpleasant as i mind the cold.

While away from the bustle of downtown, the Cambria was walkable to Broughton, River Street, Bay, Bull and the entire historic district. We saved $$ by parking in the public parking garage right across the street ($38 for 3 nights vs $35/night).

A disappointing stay
Upon checking in the valet explained the procedure for retrieving my car. His instructions ended with “plus tip.” Why would I need a reminder about a tip? The room thermostat was difficult to use. The coffee bar was poorly equipped. The only professional staff member was the young lady managing the restaurant/bar in the evening. I’ve stayed in over 30 hotels the past two years, this is a big disappointment.

The hotel is ok but the staff on all levels spend more time in their phone than helping guests. Don’t pay for valet as the parking is 100 feet away and you can wait 20 to 30 minutes for your car if you valet it. It is $39 instead of $8 to self park. Breakfast is served in paper cups and plastic utensils. It took 30 minutes to get a parfait and one egg scrambled. The toast is not toasted and the eggs were cold. Room cleaners have a no idea when they should clean no matter how many times you let the grump at front desk know your preference. We will not be back. We spend several nights a year in hotel and I would suggest this one is run by a bunch of amateurs who don’t care.
