Lovely Hotel to this snobby 4* hotel traveler

The room, bed & bathroom, and size of the room were very nice. The toilet had a slight smell around it, but I’m sure that will be fixed. For an older hotel, I thought it was very nice and would stay here again as the location is perfect as well. I don’t do 3 stars or below, because I like to feel safe and comfortable in an uber clean environment. This hotel checked all the boxes for this snobby traveler. The staff were all very very kind and helpful as well.

Classic hotel with nice bones, but in desperate need of renovation and better ownership/management. Beds and linens were comfortable, but carpets dirty and walls dingy, with some fixtures less than functional. Original room assignment turned out not to have been cleaned at all, with fully unmade beds (which I see has happened to others per reviews). But staff were friendly and accommodating. Hopefully renovations happen soon, because it’s a great location for a stopover in Atascadero.

We found this surprising gem by accident . Little did we know while booking this hotel that this is a historic town and a historic hotel too !! Also surprised at the spacious room & bathroom area too . For a historic hotel , the upkeep seems to be great . The nightly rate was very reasonable for the beautifuk hotel. Because of stay at this hotel , we were able to discover & enjoy this historic town . Will definitely recommend a stay here !

Don't stay here.

Booked a two-day stay but couldn't make the first night because of a family situation. They refused to keep my reservation for the second night and refused to issue any refund. Totally unhelpful and a waste of money.
